LaGrange Grangers
The LaGrange Grangers were a minor league baseball team based in LaGrange, Georgia. From 1913 to 1917, the Grangers and their predecessor, the LaGrange "Terrapins," played exclusively as members of the Class D level Georgia–Alabama League. The LaGrange Grangers hosted home minor league games at the LaGrange Athletic Field. The Grangers were succeeded in Georgia–Alabama League play decades later by the 1946 LaGrange Troupers. History In 1913, the LaGrange "Terrapins" began play as charter members of the six–team, Class D level Georgia–Alabama League. The Anniston Moulders, Gadsden Steel Makers, Newnan Cowetas, Opelika Opelicans and Talladega Indians teams joined LaGrange in beginning league play on May 5, 1913. LaGrange High School (Georgia)
LaGrange High School, located in LaGrange, Georgia, United States, is a public secondary school serving around 1300 students in the Troup County school system. Founded in 1903, the school is notable for producing several collegiate and professional athletes and was the national champion football team in 1991. The town and high school derive their name from a connection to the French soldier and statesman, Marquis De Lafayette. Mascot The school's mascot is the Granger. James William "Ducky" Holmes (January 28, 1869 – August 6, 1932) was an outfielder in Major League Baseball. He played ten seasons in the National League and American League with the Louisville Colonels (1895–97), New York Giants (1897), St. Louis Browns (1898), Baltimore Orioles (1898–99), Detroit Tigers (1901–02), Washington Senators (1903), and Chicago White Sox (1903–05). Ralph Head (August 30, 1893 – October 8, 1962) was a professional baseball pitcher who played for the 1923 Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Listed at and , he threw and batted right-handed. Biography Head played minor league baseball during 1913–1917 and 1919–1931; he did not play professionally in 1918 due to military service. Callaway Stadium
Callaway Stadium is a football/soccer stadium located in LaGrange, Georgia. It was built in 1958 by Callaway Foundation and is used by the Troup County High School, LaGrange High School, and Callaway High School football and soccer teams, as well as the LaGrange College Fighting Red Panthers football team. The Georgia State League was an American Class D minor league in professional baseball that existed in 1906, 1914, 1920–1921 and 1948–1956. During its last incarnation, it existed alongside two nearby Class D circuits, the Georgia–Florida League and the Georgia–Alabama League.
