The Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) is a telecommunications company providing services in Liberia. Headquartered in Monrovia, the company provides telephone, Internet, fax and radio services to the Greater Monrovia area. Prior to the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 2007, LTC possessed a legal monopoly over the country's fixed line services, and today remains the sole company licensed by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority to provide fixed line telephone services. Currently, the LTC Act was amended in 2020 to ensure that LTC provide full scale mobile network operations within the Republic of Liberia. Liberia Telecommunications Authority
Liberia, officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. It is bordered by Sierra Leone to its northwest, Guinea to its north, Ivory Coast to its east, and the Atlantic Ocean to its south and southwest. ACE (cable System)
Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) is an optical-fiber submarine cable system serving 24 countries on the Europe , west coast and south Africa, managed by a consortium of 20 members. The ACE cable connects more than 450 million people, either directly for coastal countries or through land links for landlocked countries such as Mali and Niger. ACE is also the first international submarine cable to land in Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania, São Tomé and Príncipe and Sierra Leone. Agreements are being put in place to allow the arrival of other operators in countries along the ACE cable route. Guinea-Bissau is the next country to be connected to the submarine cable. Cable Landing Point
A cable landing point is the location where a Submarine cable, submarine or other underwater cable makes landfall. The term is most often used for the landfall points of submarine communications cable, submarine telecommunications cables and submarine power cables. The landing will either be direct (in the case of a point-to-point cable system) or via a branch from a main cable using a submarine branching unit. The branch can be several kilometres long. Cable Consortium Of Liberia
The Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) is a public-private partnership formed in 2010 to own and operate Liberia's cable landing point for the ACE cable system. Stakeholders in the project include the Government of Liberia (60%), Libtelco (20%), Lonestar Cell (10%), and Cellcom (10%). CCL signed the Construction and Maintenance Agreement for the ACE system on 5 June 2010. The CCL's share of the US$700 million project is $25 million. The World Bank provided an initial US$5 million grant to finance half of the Government of Liberia's stake in the project. The cable will be the first fiber optic telecommunications cable to land in Liberia, which had not previously collaborated in other African cable projects due to its 14-year civil strife.
