LFG V 101
__NOTOC__ The LFG V 101 Jasmund (named for Jasmund on Rügen) was a seaplane airliner produced in small quantities in Germany in the 1920s. It was a conventional, strut-braced, low-wing monoplane with an enclosed cabin for five passengers, an enlarged, metal development of the LFG V 20, V 20 ArkonaTaylor 1989, 577 (of which a metal version had already been flown). The V 101 was produced to operate alongside the LFG V 13, V 13s and V 20s in service with Luft-Fahrzeug and Luftverkehr Pommern on seaplane routes in North Germany from 1926, possibly in favour of the LFG V 59, V 59 that had been considered for this role. Luft-Fahrzeug-Gesellschaft, also referred to as LFG, was a German aircraft manufacturer during World War I. They are best known for their various "Roland" designs, notably the Roland C.II ''Walfisch'' (whale), Roland D.II ''haifisch'' (Shark) and Roland D.VI, although they also produced a number of airships and many experimental designs. Airships Luft-Fahrzeug-Gesellschaft formed on April 30, 1908, from the assets of an experimental airship engine company located in Bitterfeld, Motorluftschiff Studiengesellscaft (MStG). Additional funding for the new enterprise was provided primarily by Krupp, AEG (German company), AEG, and a local chemical company. The company's offices were located in Berlin along with the factory at Adlershof. LFG V 59
The LFG V 59 and the LFG V 61 were single engine, twin float passenger seaplanes designed and built in Germany in 1926 by the Luft-Fahrzeug-Gesellschaft. They differed only in their engines. Design and development The V 59 and V 61 were both twin float seaplanes, essentially identical apart from their engines and designed to carry four or five passengers. The V 59 was powered by a BMW IV 6-cylinder water cooled inline and the V 61 by a much more powerful, Bristol Jupiter 9-cylinder radial. They were metal aircraft both in frame and covering, low wing monoplanes of the semi-cantilever kind with external bracing between the upper fuselage and wing and further support from below via the flat topped floats. The wings were straight tapered with rounded tips. The fuselage was flat sided and bottomed, with windows down the side and with a braced tailplane mounted on top of it. Armstrong Siddeley Puma
The Siddeley Puma is a British aero engine developed towards the end of World War I and produced by Siddeley-Deasy. The first Puma engines left the production lines of Siddeley-Deasy in Coventry in August 1917, production continued until December 1918. In operational service, the engine was unreliable and failed to deliver its rated power. At least 4,288 of the 11,500 ordered engines were delivered, orders were cancelled following the Armistice with Germany (Compiègne), Armistice. Production was continued under the name Armstrong Siddeley Puma when the manufacturer was bought by Armstrong Whitworth and became Armstrong Siddeley.
