Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is a State school, public school district in Los Angeles County, California, United States of America. It is the largest public school system in California in terms of number of students and the List of the largest school districts in the United States by enrollment, second largest public school district in the United States, with only the New York City Department of Education having a larger student population. During the 2022–2023 school year, LAUSD served 565,479 students, including 11,795 early childhood education students and 27,740 adult students. During the same school year, it had 24,710 teachers and 49,231 other employees. It is the second largest employer in Los Angeles County after the county government. The school district's budget for the 2021–2022 school year was $10.7 billion, increasing to $12.6 billion for the 2022–2023 school year. Contreras Learning Complex
Miguel Contreras Learning Complex (MCLC) is a high school in the Westlake, Los Angeles, Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school is located at 322 South Lucas Avenue, just down Third Street from the LAUSD Board of Education headquarters building. United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) is the main trade union for certified, non-administrative staff in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The union was incorporated in 1970 by the merger between the ( AFT-local) Los Angeles Teachers Alliance and the ( NEA-local) Classroom Teachers of Los Angeles. Santee Education Complex is a secondary school located at 1921 South Maple Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Santee, which serves grades nine through twelve, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and is located in the South Los Angeles area. Arleta High School (AHS) is a secondary school located on Van Nuys Boulevard in the Arleta section of Los Angeles, California, United States in the San Fernando Valley. History The school opened on October 3, 2006, serving grades 9 through 10 during its first year of operation. It is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school phased in grade 11 in the fall of 2007 and grade 12 in the fall of 2008. In June 2009, the first class graduated.
