L. P. R. Varma
Lakshmipuram Palace Pooram Thirunal Ravi Varma ( ml, എൽ.പി.ആർ. വർമ്മ) known as L.P.R. Varma (1926–2003) was a Carnatic musician, lyricist, music director, singer, screen writer, and actor. Life Varma was born in Lakshmipuram Palace, the Puzhavathu, Changanassery in Travancore State. He began music at the age of eight and was trained under tMuthaiyah Bhagavathar, Semmangudy Sreenivasa Iyer and Madura Keshava Bhagavathar. He conducted a large number of Carnatic music concerts in south India. He performed and composed music for many Malayalam films and professional dramas. He belonged to the Parappanangadi royal family (Malabar – part of North Kerala) and they were settled in Changanassery. He generally performed in Malayalam language. Changanassery or Changanacherry is a municipal town in Kottayam district in the state of Kerala, India. History The first recorded history on the origin of Changanacherry is obtained from Sangam period literature. According to Sangam era documents, Uthiyan Cheralathan (Perum Chorru Udiyan Cheralathan, Athan I, or Udiyanjeral - AD c. 130) is the first recorded Kera (Chera) dynasty ruler of the Sangam period in ancient South India. The Malayali people () (also spelt Malayalee and also known by the demonym Keralite) are a Dravidian ethnolinguistic group originating from the present-day state of Kerala in India, occupying its southwestern Malabar coast.
