L. J. Jenkins
Larry Dean "L.J." Jenkins (born July 17, 1987) is an American former professional rodeo cowboy who specialized in bull riding. He competed in the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuits. Jenkins is one of only four bull riders in history (the other three being Ted Nuce, Ty Murray and Sage Kimzey) to win both the PBR World Finals and the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). Background Jenkins was born on July 17, 1987, on his father's ranch in Strafford, Missouri. He grew up in Highlandville and the Springfield area. Porum is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. It was named for John Porum Davis, a rancher, Civil War veteran, and Cherokee Nation councilman from the Canadian District in Indian Territory. A stock contractor is an individual or business that provides animals for rodeo competition. Bucking Bull
A bucking bull is a bull used in American rodeo bull riding competition. They are usually a Brahma crossed with another breed, weighing 1,500 pounds or more, selected for their tendency to "leap, plunge and spin" when a human is on its back. Circa mid-20th century breeders began selecting bulls for bad temperament, that would buck when ridden. Many of the best bucking bulls trace their lineage to bulls owned by Charlie Plummer of Oklahoma. These are known as Plummer bulls. Bulls are viewed as athletes. They usually are started in their bucking career at the age of two or three, reach their athletic prime at age five or six, and if they remain healthy, can continue bucking at least until the age of 10, sometimes longer.
