L. A. Ring House
The L. A. Ring House , located at Havnevej 25, is the former home of painter L. A. Ring and his wife Sigrid Ring, née Kähler in the Sankt Jørgensbjerg district of Roskilde, Denmark. The house is located on a sloping site overlooking St. Jørgensbjerg Village, Roskilde Harbour, and Roskilde Cathedral. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 2001. The house is a private residence without public access. Ring was for a while also the owner of an adjacent property at Brøndgade 1, which was used as an extra studio. This building was converted by a private association (L. A. Rings Venner) into a visitor center under the name L. A. Rings Atelier in 2017. History The house was built to Wied's own design in 1900 with the proceeds from ''Første Violin'', a comedy published in 1898. Kähler Keramik (Kähler Ceramics) is a Danish ceramics manufacturer based in Næstved on the island of Zealand. History Joachim Christian Herman Kähler (1808–84) from Heiligenhafen in the Duchy of Holstein established himself as a potter there in 1839, producing heating stoves, cooking pots and kitchenware. His son, Herman A. Kähler (1846-1917), together with his younger brother Carl Frederik Kähler, took over the running of the factory in 1872. Carl became responsible for producing faience while Herman specialized in manufacturing tiled stoves. In 1875, after Carl withdrew and the original factory had burnt down, Herman built a new factory on the town's outskirts where he produced both stoves and pottery. Hakkemose Brickworks (Danish language, Danish: Hakkemose Teglværk) was a Denmark, Danish brickyard and ceramics factory located at Taastrup, Denmark. The central lake in Hakkemosen is its former clay pit. History Inventor and mechanic Johannes Peter Langgaard purchased the farm Hakkemose at Taastrup in 1847 and founded the brickyard at the site on 10 November that same year. Langgaard had studied the latest technological trends in Germany and constructed a machine for the production of bricks. In 1868 , he also began the construction of a Hoffmann kiln with 15 chambers. Each chamber had room for 22,500 bricks. Hakkemose Brickworks had by the 1870s developed into the largest brickyard in the country. It produced 7 million bricks in 1872. Romantic nationalism (also national romanticism, organic nationalism, identity nationalism) is the form of nationalism in which the state claims its political legitimacy as an organic consequence of the unity of those it governs. Ole Ring
Ole Ring by Laurits Andersen Ring (1925) Ole Ring (6 August 1902 – 2 May 1972) was a Danish painter. Biography Ole Ring was born at Baldersbrønde in Hedehusene, Denmark. He was the youngest of three children of Laurits Andersen Ring and Sigrid Eing, née Kähler. The family lived in the L. A. Ring House in Roskilde from 1914. Ole Ring was taught to paint by his father who was a notable artist. Ole Ring's work is strongly influenced by that of his father. He was a naturalist who painted numerous paintings of landscapes and village life on eastern Zealand. Ring preferred to paint in the autumn and winter months, and the images, which typically have a greyish, silvery tinge, were affected by the winter light in the color scheme. Unlike his father, he has also painted many cityscapes from Copenhagen. He died in Køge and is buried at Klosterkirkegården.
