Kōtarō Takamura
was a Japanese poet and sculptor. Biography Takamura was the eldest son of Japanese sculptor Takamura Kōun. He graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1902, where he studied sculpture and oil painting. He studied in New York, at the Art Students League of New York City in 1906. While in New York, Takamura studied under the well known sculptor Gutzon Borglum. Takamura's time spent in America was difficult, and had great impact on his sculpture work and literary work. Takamura additionally studied in London in 1907, where he met his best friend Bernard Leach. After finishing his studies in Paris in 1908, he returned to Japan in 1909 and lived there for the rest of his life. Kōtarō Nakamura
was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army and very briefly Army Minister in the 1930s. Biography Nakamura was a native of Ishikawa Prefecture. He was educated in military preparatory schools from early youth, and graduated from the 13th class of the Imperial Japanese Army Academy in 1901, and from the 21st class of the Army Staff College in 1909, where his classmates included Hisaichi Terauchi and Yoshijirō Umezu. Nakamura served in various administrative and staff positions within the Imperial Japanese Army General Staff for almost his entire career. He was sent as a military attaché to Sweden from 1920 to 1921. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel, Nakamura was assigned command of the IJA 67th Infantry Regiment from 1922 to 1923. He returned to the General Staff from 1923 to 1927. In 1927, Nakamura was promoted to major general and commanded the IJA 39th Infantry Brigade. Kōtarō Yoshida (martial Artist)
was a 19th- to 20th-century Japanese martial artist. There have been claims that Yoshida was a member of the Kokuryukai, Amur River Society (also known as the Black Dragon Society), an ultra-nationalist organization of disenfranchised ex-samurai who promulgated "pan-Asiatic ascendancy" in line with the rise of Japanese imperialism. Others have asserted that he was a member of the Genyosha (the "Dark Ocean Society'), a previous organization founded by Toyama Mitsuru. However, the membership roles of both of these organizations are meticulously documented, and Yoshida's name does not show up in the registry of either the Genyosha or the Kokuryukai. Therefore, although it is quite likely that Yoshida had right-wing, nationalist leanings, he was not a significant figure in the major nationalist organizations of the late Meiji and Taisho periods. Kōtarō Tanaka (; 25 October 1890 – 1 March 1974) was a Japanese jurist, professor of law and politician who served as the last Minister of Education of the Empire of Japan and the second postwar Chief Justice of Japan. Early life Tanaka was born in Kagoshima, the eldest son of judge Tanaka Hideo, who had been born in Takeo, Saga, in the present-day Saga Prefecture. After completing secondary school in Niigata, he completed high school in Fukuoka and went on to the Imperial Naval Academy. In 1914, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law at Tokyo Imperial University (University of Tokyo) and passed the advanced civil service examinations. He graduated the following year with honours, and was awarded a silver watch from Emperor Taisho.
