Kültürpark
Kültürpark is an urban park in İzmir, Turkey. It is located in the district of Konak, roughly bounded by Dr. Mustafa Enver Bey Avenue on the north, 1395th Street, 1396th Street and Bozkurt Avenue on the east, Mürsel Paşa Boulevard on the south, and Dr. Refik Saydam and Şair Eşref boulevards on the west. Kültürpark was founded in 1936 on an area of , which was ruined by the great fire of Smyrna. Since then, it has been hosting the İzmir International Fair. In 1939, the park has expanded to . History The third edition of the 9th of September Fair was held in 1933 on an area next to Cumhuriyet Square where Swissôtel Büyük Efes exists today. Kültürpark – Atatürk Lisesi is a light-rail station on the Konak Tram of the Tram İzmir system in İzmir, Turkey. Originally named ''Fuar'', it is located on Şair Eşref Boulevard in Kültür, between Kültürpark, and the İzmir Atatürk Lisesi from which the station gets its name. İzmir Parachute Tower
İzmir Parachute Tower ( tr, İzmir Paraşüt Kulesi) is a parachute tower located within Kültürpark in İzmir, Turkey. It was built in 1937 by the Turkish Aeronautical Association. It is one of the two parachute towers in the country. History Mayor Behçet Uz, who saw the parachute tower in Gorky Park in Moscow, suggested that a similar tower be built in Kültürpark to the Turkish Aeronautical Association. The Turkish Aeronautical Association sent a delegation to Russia to investigate and decided to build a parachute tower in Ankara in addition to İzmir. The construction of the tower, whose architectural project was prepared by Bedri Tümay and Algrandi, started in 1935 within Kültürpark. The tower, which cost 38,758.61 Turkish liras, was completed in 1937 and opened on 9 September in the same year during the 7th İzmir International Fair. Konak, İzmir
Konak is a district of İzmir Province in Turkey. It is the most densely populated of the eleven main urban districts of İzmir, and has historically acted as the administrative and economic core of the city. Situated in an area that roughly corresponds to the geographic center of İzmir, Konak extends for along the southern coastline of the Gulf of İzmir. A long panhandle that the district area draws in the direction of the southwest, on the other hand, also covers a large rural area, mostly covered with mountains and forests, and two isolated villages. Behçet Uz
Ömer Behçet Uz (1893 – 19 May 1986) was a Turkish physician, politician, former mayor of İzmir and government minister. Biography He was born in Buldan ilçe (district) of Denizli Province, Ottoman Empire in 1893. He studied in İzmir High School, which was later renamed to Atatürk High School, and in the School of Medicine of Istanbul University. After working in Istanbul, he moved to İzmir to practice pediatrics. In 1922, he founded ''Veremle Mücadele Derneği'' ("Society to Struggle Against Tuberculosis") In 1931, he was elected as the Mayor of İzmir. In this post, he served for ten years. He was instrumental in establishing Kültürpark, erecting the Atatürk Monument, establishing playgrounds, market squares, constructing some streets. Basmane Railway Station
Basmane railway station ( tr, Basmane Garı) is an intercity and regional railway terminal and rapid transit station in İzmir, Turkey. Along with Alsancak station, Basmane is one of two railway terminals in the city. All TCDD Taşımacılık trains terminate at this station, with intercity service to Ankara, Bandırma and Konya as well as regional service to Denizli, Söke, Tire and Ödemiş. The İzmir Art and Sculpture Museum and Gallery ( tr, İzmir Resim Heykel Müzesi ve Galerisi) is an art museum in İzmir, Turkey.
