Kärstna
Kärstna is a village in Viljandi Parish, Viljandi County, Estonia. Until the 2017 administrative reform of Estonian municipalities the village was located in Tarvastu Parish. Kärstna manor Kärstna () manor traces its history back to 1678, when the estate was founded. Subsequently, it belonged to various Baltic German families from the Baltic nobility, local upper-class. In 1740, it became the property of the Anrep family and stayed in their hands for much of its later history. It thus was the property of explorer Reinhold von Anrep-Elmpt, his father Imperial Russia, Russian general Joseph Carl von Anrep, and his father, Reinhold von Arnep, also a general. A monument commemorating the latter, who died in the Battle of Mohrungen during the War of the Fourth Coalition, is located near the manor house. Reinhold Von Anrep-Elmpt
Reinhold Philipp Johann Graf von Anrep-Elmpt (30 January 1834 – 26 August 1888) was a Baltic German officer in Russian service, and an explorer. Life and work Reinhold von Anrep-Elmpt of the Anrep family was born in Kursk in the Russian Empire to Joseph Carl von Anrep and Cecilie Anrep, ''née'' von Elmpt. He grew up in Riga and Saint Petersburg. In 1854 he became a cornet in the Chevalier Guard Regiment. He served in the Crimean War. In 1858 he left the army with the rank of ''Rittmeister''. The time between 1858 and 1870 he spent on his estate Kärstna Manor () in present-day Estonia. After this, he spent the rest of his life as an explorer, travelling to Australia, the East Indies, China, Japan, the Hawaiian Kingdom, California, Central America, South America, Cambodia and Thailand. Joseph Carl Von Anrep
Joseph Carl von Anrep (; 6 February 1798 – 28 June 1860) was a Baltic German general during the Crimean War. He was a member of the Russian branch of the Anrep family, the son of Heinrich Reinhold von Anrep, a general of the Russian cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. Viljandi Parish () is a rural Municipalities of Estonia, municipality of Viljandi County, Estonia. It is located around the town of Viljandi, but does not include it. Viljandi Parish was established by merging four municipalities: Paistu Parish, Paistu, Pärsti Parish, Pärsti, Saarepeedi Parish, Saarepeedi and Viiratsi Parish, Viiratsi parishes.
