Kärstna
Kärstna is a village in Viljandi Parish, Viljandi County, Estonia. Until the 2017 administrative reform of Estonian municipalities the village was located in Tarvastu Parish. Kärstna manor Kärstna (german: Kerstenshof) manor traces its history back to 1678, when the estate was founded. Subsequently, it belonged to various Baltic German families from the local upper-class. In 1740, it became the property of the Anrep family and stayed in their hands for much of its later history. It thus was the property of explorer Reinhold von Anrep-Elmpt, his father Russian general Joseph Carl von Anrep, and his father, Reinhold von Arnep, also a general. A monument commemorating the latter, who died in the Battle of Mohrungen during the War of the Fourth Coalition, is located near the manor house. Reinhold Von Anrep-Elmpt
Reinhold Philipp Johann Graf von Anrep-Elmpt (30 January 1834 – 26 August 1888) was a Baltic German officer in Russian service, and an explorer. Life and work Reinhold von Anrep-Elmpt of the Anrep family was born in Kursk in the Russian Empire to Joseph Carl von Anrep and Cecilie Anrep, ''née'' von Elmpt. He grew up in Riga and Saint Petersburg. In 1854 he became a cornet in the Chevalier Guard Regiment. He served in the Crimean War. In 1858 he left the army with the rank of ''Rittmeister''. The time between 1858 and 1870 he spent on his estate Kärstna Manor (german: Kerstenshof) in present-day Estonia. Joseph Carl Von Anrep
Joseph Carl von Anrep (russian: Иосиф Романович Анреп; ''Iosif Romanovich Anrep-Elmpt''; 1796 – 28 June 1860) was a Baltic German general during the Crimean War. He was a member of the Russian branch of the Anrep family, the son of Heinrich Reinhold von Anrep, a general of the Russian cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. War Of The Fourth Coalition
The Fourth Coalition fought against Napoleon's French Empire and were defeated in a war spanning 1806–1807. The main coalition partners were Prussia and Russia with Saxony, Sweden, and Great Britain also contributing. Excluding Prussia, some members of the coalition had previously been fighting France as part of the Third Coalition, and there was no intervening period of general peace. On 9 October 1806, Prussia declared war on France and joined a renewed coalition, fearing the rise in French power after the defeat of Austria and establishment of the French-sponsored Confederation of the Rhine in addition to having learned of French plans to cede Prussian-desired Hannover to Britain in exchange for peace. Battle Of Mohrungen
In the Battle of Mohrungen on 25 January 1807, most of a First French Empire corps under the leadership of Marshal Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte fought a strong Russian Empire advance guard led by Major General Yevgeni Ivanovich Markov. The French pushed back the main Russian force, but a cavalry raid on the French supply train caused Bernadotte to call off his attacks. After driving off the cavalry, Bernadotte withdrew and the town was occupied by the army of General Levin August, Count von Bennigsen. The fighting took place in and around Morąg in northern Poland, which in 1807 was the East Prussian town of Mohrungen. The action was part of the War of the Fourth Coalition in the Napoleonic Wars.
