György Kárpáti
György Kárpáti (23 June 1935 – 17 June 2020) was a Hungarian water polo player who competed at the 1952 Summer Olympics, 1956 Summer Olympics, 1960 Summer Olympics, and 1964 Summer Olympics. He is one of eight male athletes who won four or more Olympic medals in water polo, and one of ten male athletes who won three Olympic gold medals in water polo. Career Kárpáti was born in Budapest, and was a member of the Hungarian team which won the gold medal in the 1952 tournament. He played five matches and scored four goals. Károly Kárpáti
Károly Kárpáti (also Károly Kellner, born July 2, 1906, in Eger – September 23, 1996, in Budapest) was a Hungarian Olympic wrestling champion of Jewish heritage. Career Károly Kárpáti was born on July 2, 1906, in Eger in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His early chances of becoming an elite athlete seemed negligible as he was introduced to wrestling by a doctor who told his parents that physical activity might help strengthen their short and underweight son. Defying the odds, in his crowning achievement, he won an Olympic gold medal in 1936 in the Lightweight Freestyle class. As a Jewish wrestler, his victory in the Berlin 1936 Nazi Olympics provided special significance, because it came at the expense of Germany's vaunted titleholder, Wolfgang Ehrl. Kárpáti was one of only around nine Jewish athletes who won medals at the Nazi Olympics in Berlin in 1936. Rudolf Kárpáti
Rudolf Kárpáti (17 July 1920 – 1 February 1999) was a fencer from Hungary, who won six gold medals in sabre at four Olympic Games (1948–1960). He also won seven gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the world championships. For his achievements he was named Hungarian Sportsman of the year in 1959 and 1960. Kárpáti graduated from the National Conservatory majoring in the history of music; he was also an accomplished violinist and the artistic director of the People’s Army Central Artistic Ensemble (1961–1986). Besides fencing and music, he was an employee at the Hungarian State Credit Bank and an officer with the Hungarian Army – he retired as Colonel, and later in 1990 was promoted to Major General. Ödön Kárpáti
Ödön Kárpáti (2 January 1892 – November 1914) was a Hungarian long-distance runner. He competed in the marathon at the 1912 Summer Olympics. He started his athletic career at FTC and moved to BAK along with several of his teammates. Kárpáti was a long-distance runner, mostly in the 10K and marathon. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, he placed 31st in the marathon. In 1913, Kárpáti was suspended until 1914 due to his unacceptable behavior against the representative of the MASZ (Hungarian Athletic Association). Despite this ban, Kárpáti continued to compete and was banned from racing for life, but subsequently, it was modified until July 1915. Levente (between 1010 and 1015 – 1047) was a member of the House of Árpád, a great-grandson of Taksony, Grand Prince of the Hungarians.
