Kyle Hosford
Kyle Martin Hosford (born 27 June 1989) is an Irish basketball player. He represented the Irish national team between 2015 and 2022. Irish League career Between 2008 and 2012, Hosford played for UCC Demons in the Irish Super League. After a season with Demons' Division One team in 2012–13, he returned to the Super League team for the 2013–14 season. During the 2015–16 season, he competed for Hibernia in the FIBA Europe Cup. After UCC Demons withdrew from the Super League in 2019, he joined Neptune for the 2019–20 season. For the 2021–22 season, he re-joined UCC Demons for their return season in the National League Division One. In the 2024–25 season, Hosford helped UCC Demons win the Super League championship. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Generally, point guards are expected to be proficient in passing the ball and being able to get Assist (basketball), assists to teammates. 2015–16 FIBA Europe Cup
The 2015–16 FIBA Europe Cup was the inaugural season of the newly formed basketball competition organised by FIBA. The season started on 21 October 2015 and ended on 1 May 2016. The competition replaced the FIBA EuroChallenge and had the aim to take the place of Eurocup (organised by Euroleague Basketball), as the second-tier competition in Europe. Format In the Regular season, 56 teams are divided into 14 groups of four teams. In the Round of 32, the first and second best teams from the Regular season play in groups of four. The 2021 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries was the 17th edition of this tournament, hosted in Dublin, Ireland. Initially, the championship was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was rescheduled to 1015 August 2021. Ireland won the title for the second time. Teams Moldova and Norway did not join this edition. They were replaced by Armenia, who were winners in 2016 about to come back to competition after their withdrawal from the EuroBasket 2021 pre-qualifiers, and Azerbaijan, winners in 2006 and 2008 - Azerbaijan was set for a comeback to competition since its participation in the EuroBasket 2013 qualification.
