Kuwaiti Premier League
The Kuwait Premier League (), known as Zain Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Kuwait football pyramid system. Formed in 1961, Kuwait SC holds the best record in the competition, having won 20 times. History The Kuwaiti Premier League officially began in the 1961/62 season, after playing unofficially for eight years (played with group of clubs: "Ahli - Al Jazeera - Arabism - Gulf - Solidarity - Al-Qubali, Al-Nahda, Al-Sharqai, Al-Merqab, Al-Mawalim and Al-Taawon). National companies and ministries were club's first sponsors. 1960s In the 1961/1962 season, several new clubs joined ( Al-Arabi, Qadsia, Kuwait SC, Kifan High School, Shuwaikh Secondary School, Industrial College and Police Team). Al-Arabi won the league title without losing, and winning 7 points ahead of Qadsia, scoring 42 goals and conceding 10. In the following season, the number of teams was reduced to 7. Kuwaiti Division One
The Kuwaiti Division One () is a second-tier professional Kuwaiti football league. Winners of the league are promoted to the Kuwait Premier League. Kuwaiti Division One was introduced for the 2006–07 season, when the bottom 6 clubs in the Premier League were relegated to Division One. On 25 April 2016 it was stated that the Division One league would return for 2017–18 due to Kuwait Football Association being banned by FIFA therefore not allowing the tournament to return until reinstatement by FIFA. Al-Shabab Sports Club () is a Kuwaiti professional football club based in Al Ahmadi. Overview In the fourth season, the school teams, which are Thanwit Al-Shoike ''()'', Al-Kalia Al-Saneia ''()'' and Al-Shorta ''()'', were excluded from participating in the league and witnessed the participation of three new clubs, namely Al-Salmiya, Al-Fahaheel and Al-Shabab. 1963–64 Kuwaiti Premier League was the 3rd season of the First League Division. Overview In the third season, it almost witnessed the end of Al Arabi's monopoly on the title after a great competition with Al-Qadsia and the participation of the same six teams in the previous season. Al-Arabi and Al-Qadsia were equal on points after Al-Qadsia inflicted the first defeat of Al-Arabi 2–0 in the last match in the league, and they were equal on points with 18 points for both teams, with Al-Arabi an advantage by goal difference. In the deciding match to determine the league champion, Al-Arabi managed to maintain its title after defeating Al-Qadsia 2–1 to achieve the third title in a row, scoring 42 goals and conceding 9 goals. Overview The first season of the Kuwaiti League officially started after the closure of the old clubs and the opening of a new football activity, with the participation of seven new teams between clubs and schools, namely ( Al-Arabi, Al-Qadsia, Al-Kuwait, Thanwit Kifan ''()'', Thanwit Al-Shoike ''()'', Al-Kalia Al-Saneia ''()'' and Al-Shorta ''()'').
