Kutno Rose Festival
The Rose Festival is an annual exhibition of roses and florist arrangements which takes place in Kutno, Poland. The event takes place according to tradition on the first (sometimes second) weekend of September. The first exhibition took place in 1974. The exhibition is accompanied by gardening and firms bazaars, fairs on area of the city and concerts. In 2009 the automobile Rally of the Rose had its premiere. Roses and other flowers come from breeders of Łódź province while floristic arrangements are prepared by florists from Poland and elsewhere, for instance Russia, Latvia or Lithuania. Origins of the festival The Rose Festival for the first time was organised in 1975 from 20 to 21 September by Kutno House of Culture (Kazimierz Jóźwiak had the initiative) named Kutno Rose Fair. Majka Jeżowska
Majka Jeżowska (born Maria Jeżowska on May 25, 1960 in Nowy Sącz, Poland), is a Polish singer performing pop and children's music. She is also a part-time actress. Biography She graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, supervised by Krystyna Prońko. In 1978, she won an award at the festival in Zielona Góra, and in 1979, was awarded again at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole for the song "Nutka w nutkę". The following year, her song "Reggae o pierwszych wynalazcach" (Reggae about first inventors) took the third place at the festival in Opole. She released her debut album, ''Jadę w świat'', in 1981, which apart from previously known songs included further hits "Od rana mam dobry humor" (I'm in good mood since morning) and "Najpiękniejsza w klasie" (Most beautiful in class). Monika Maria Brodka (born 7 February 1988) is a Polish singer, who rose to fame as the winner of the third season of Polish Pop Idol (''Idol'') in 2004. Zbigniew Herbert
Zbigniew Herbert (; 29 October 1924 – 28 July 1998) was a Polish poet, essayist, drama writer and moralist. He is one of the best known and the most translated post-war Polish writers. While he was first published in the 1950s (a volume titled ''Chord of Light'' was issued in 1956), soon after he voluntarily ceased submitting most of his works to official Polish government publications. He resumed publication in the 1980s, initially in the underground press. Since the 1960s, he was nominated several times for the Nobel Prize in literature. Pidżama Porno
Pidżama Porno (Porno Pyjamas) is a Polish punk rock / reggae / ska band. History The band was founded in December 1987 in Poznań, by Krzysztof "Grabaż" Grabowski and Andrzej "Kozak" Kozakiewicz, students of Adam Mickiewicz University, who originally come from the town of Piła. Two years later they recorded their first material, named ''Ulice jak stygmaty'' (''Streets Like Stigmata''). The band played at the Jarocin Festival and in 1990 went on a tour to Czechoslovakia as the first underground group from Poland. In 1990 Pidżama Porno recorded their second album '' Futurista''. Although, it was released in 1996, the demo was copied on MC's and shared through the fans. To this day it remains very popular among Polish listeners. Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Willem van Gogh (; 30 March 185329 July 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history.
