Kuruvai, also known as "short-term" in Tamil, are the crops grown in cauvery Delta of Tamil Nadu state in India. The crops that are grown in this delta are mostly paddy and the health of these crops and the eventual livelihood of these farmers are extremely dependent on abundant flow of water on the Cauvery river. The river has been the center of controversy between Tamil Nadu State and Karnataka State of India. The Kaveri (also known as Cauvery) is a major river flowing across Southern India. It is the third largest river in the region after Godavari and Krishna. Perambalur is a City Municipal corporation which is located in the heart of Tamil Nadu and is 267 kilometers South of the capital city of Chennai. The district covers an area of 1,757 square kilometers, located between 10.54' and 11.30' degrees of Northern latitude and 78.40' and 79.30' degrees of Eastern longitude. It is the administrative headquarters of Karur district and is administered by the Karur Municipal Corporation.
