Ravna Gora, Croatia
Ravna Gora is a village and a municipality in western Croatia, located between Delnice and Vrbovsko in the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar. History The volunteer fire department DVD Ravna Gora was founded in 1888, and is today part of the ''VZ općine Ravna Gora''. The current commander of both the ''VZ'' and the ''DVD'' as of 2013 is Dražen Krepenc. The local chapter of the HPS is ''HPD "Bjelolasica"'', which had 23 members in 1936 under the Ivan Marković presidency. At the time, it had a ski section. Membership fell to 21 in 1937. Membership fell to 15 in 1938, and the ski section became inactive. The next season, the entire chapter was inactive. D3 is a state road in western parts of Croatia connecting Rijeka on the Adriatic Sea, Adriatic coast to Zagreb, Karlovac and Varaždin, as well as to the Goričan border crossing to Hungary. Furthermore, the D3 is used as a parallel road to a number of motorways in Croatia – namely the A4 (Croatia), A4 motorway north of Zagreb, the A1 (Croatia), A1 motorway between Zagreb and Bosiljevo 2 interchange south of Karlovac and finally the A6 (Croatia), A6 motorway between Bosiljevo 2 interchange and Rijeka – and it connects to nearly all motorway interchanges on that route either directly or via connecting roads. Matija Mažuranić
Matija Mažuranić (1817–April 17, 1881) was a Croatian writer best known for his travelogues. He was the brother of more renowned Ivan, the writer of the well-known epic '' Smrt Smail-age Čengića''. He was born in Novi Vinodolski and attended a German school in his native town, where he was trained to become a blacksmith. He often indulged in travels visiting Montenegro, Serbia, and occasionally to Bosnia. In 1841, he returned to Novi, practising his craft and agriculture while engaging in literature and cultural issues. In 1847, he moved to Vienna, and in 1848, he was in Bosnia again (in Sarajevo, at the court of Fazli-paša Šerifija).
