Kuno Gonschior
Kuno Gonschior (10 September 1933 in Wanne-Eickel – 16 March 2010 in Bochum) was a German painter. From 1957 to 1961, Gonschior studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 1959, he was one of the first students of Karl Otto Götz, his classmates being Gotthard Graubner and HA Schult. From 1961 to 1963 he studied at the University of Cologne. In 1972, he became lecturer at the Pädagogische Hochschule Münster. From 1982 to 2000, he was a professor of painting at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Berlin. Gonschior's early work with its intuitive, almost monochrome strokes of the brush was influenced by Götz's abstract style. Later, during the 1960s, he created paintings out of characteristic dots placed next to each other, combining fluorescent, complementary colors such as red and green. Wanne-Eickel
Herne () is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the Ruhr area directly between the cities of Bochum and Gelsenkirchen. History Like most other cities in the region, Herne (ancient Haranni) was a tiny village until the 19th century. Documenta
''documenta'' is an exhibition of contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany. The ''documenta'' was founded by artist, teacher and curator Arnold Bode in 1955 as part of the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) which took place in Kassel at that time. It was an attempt to bring Germany up to speed with modern art, both banishing and repressing the cultural darkness of Nazism. This first ''documenta'' featured many artists who are generally considered to have had a significant influence on modern art (such as Picasso and Kandinsky). The more recent editions of the event feature artists based across the world, but much of the art is site-specific. Jens Christian Jensen
Jens Christian Jensen (11 May 1928 – 6 April 2013) was a German art historian and curator. Life Born in Lübeck, after the Abitur passed at the Katharineum, Jensen studied art history, classical archaeology, Germanistics and history of Christianity in Heidelberg and Mainz from 1949. He received his doctorate in 1954 with Walter Paatz on ''Master Bertram as a picture carver''. He then worked as a volunteer at the Museum für Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte in Lübeck. From 1958, he was first a research assistant, later curator at the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg and from 1968 to 1970 director of the . In 1971, he was appointed the first independent director of the Kunsthalle Kiel and executive chairman of the ''Schleswig-Holsteinischer Kunstverein''. Jensen retired in 1990. Deutscher Kritikerpreis was a cultural prize awarded annually by the Association of German Critics (Verband der Deutschen Kritiker e.V.) from 1951 to 2009. This award was given for outstanding contributions in the fields of architecture, the fine arts, television, film, radio, literature, music, dance and theater. Josef Albers
Josef Albers (; ; March 19, 1888March 25, 1976) was a German-born artist and educator. The first living artist to be given a solo show at MoMA and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, he taught at the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College, headed Yale University's department of design, and is considered one of the most influential teachers of the visual arts in the twentieth century. As an artist, Albers worked in several disciplines, including photography, typography, murals and printmaking. He is best known for his work as an abstract painter and a theorist.
