Kumookumts
Kumush (also called Kumookumts, Old Man of the Ancestors, or Primeval Old Man) is the Modoc god of goodness and light, as well as a creator god. Kumush created the Modoc tribe, gave things names and California as a country for their home. Kumush created the Modoc and named the Native American tribes, designating Mount Shasta and Tule Lake as the Modoc Garden of Eden instead of Lebanon and Palestine. Modoc People
The Modoc are an Indigenous American people who historically lived in the area which is now northeastern California and central Southern Oregon. Currently, they include two federally recognized tribes, the Klamath Tribes in Oregon and the Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma, now known as the Modoc Nation.
