Akke Kumlien
Akke Kumlien (1884–1949) was a Swedish calligrapher, typographer, graphic designer, type designer, artist etc. He is the author of the book ''Bokstav och ande'' (The Letter and the Spirit) (Stockholm: Norstedt, 1948) and of ''Kunstneren og bokkunsten''. He is the subject of the book ''Akke Kumlien, book designer'' by Bror Zachrisson. In 2004, an exhibit of his work took place at the Kungliga Biblioteket (Royal Library) in Stockholm. Hjalmar Kumlien
Knut Hjalmar Kumlien (17 March 1837 – 12 October 1897) was a Swedish architect. Biography Kumlien was born in the parish of Härlunda in Västergötland, Sweden. He was the son of Ludvig Kumlien and Petronella Johanna Rhodin. Kumlien graduated at Chalmers University of Technology in 1856 and then continued his studies at the Technical Engineering School at Holzmünden in Braunschweig between 1858–60. He then worked as infrastructure architect with Adolf W. Edelsvärd, the State Railways architects office between 1860 and 1872. Then he ran his their own firm with his brother Axel F. Kumlien (1833–1913). The two brothers are authors of numerous buildings in central Stockholm, among others, part of the München Brewery building, Villa Täcka Udden on Djurgården and some 20 villas and town houses north of Humlegården. Thure Kumlien
Thure Ludwig Theodor Kumlien (November 9, 1819 – August 5, 1888) was a Swedish-American ornithologist, naturalist, and taxidermist. A contemporary of Thoreau, Audubon, and Agassiz, he contributed much to the knowledge of the natural history of Wisconsin and its birds. He collected and shipped specimens to many investigators in the United States and abroad. He taught botany and zoology, as well as foreign languages, at Albion Academy, and was particularly regarded as an expert in the identification of birds’ nests. D. Stempel AG was a German typographic foundry founded by David Stempel (1869–1927), in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Many important font designers worked for the Stempel foundry, including Hans Bohn, Warren Chappell, F. H. Ehmcke, Friedrich Heinrichsen, Hanns Th. Hoyer, F. W. Kleukens, Erich Meyer, Hans Möhring, Hiero Rhode, Wilhelm Schwerdtner, Herbert Thannhaeuser, Martin Wilke, Rudolf Wolf, Victor Hammer, Hermann Zapf, and Gudrun Zapf von Hesse.
