Kumla Motorstadion
The Kumla Motorstadion, formerly the Glottra Skog Arena for sponsorship reasons and also referred to as Sannaheds is a 15,000-capacity motorcycle speedway stadium, south of Kumla in Sweden. The Arena is the home venue of the speedway team called Indianerna who race in the Eliserien, which is the highest league in Swedish speedway. The primary 500c track measures 375 metres in circumference, while a smaller 80cc track is 175 metres. The stadium called the (Kumla Motorstadion) at the time, was built in 1946 and attracted 23,000 to the first meeting on 16 June 1946. The venue also staged ice racing speedway. The track staged the 1953 Continental Speedway Final which formed part of the 1953 Individual Speedway World Championship and then hosted international meetings. Kumla
Kumla is a locality and the seat of Kumla Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden with a population of 21,640 as of 2018. Geography Kumla is situated roughly 15 kilometres south of neighbouring city Örebro, and is connected to its much larger neighbour with train and bus commuting. Kumla is unusual in terms of municipality seats in Svealand in that there is no connection to any kind of waterway in the centre of the town. However, three of the four biggest lakes in the country are within an hour's drive from the town. It is also an unusually flat town, since it is situated in the middle of the so-called Närke Plain. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Indianerna (the Indians) are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Kumla, Sweden. The club's official name is Kumla MSK and it was founded in 1936 which makes the club one of the oldest motorsport clubs in Sweden. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") () is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top eight Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. Before that Allsvenskan was the highest division. The winner of the Elitserien is crowned the Swedish Speedway Team Championship winner. 2024 Clubs History From the start of Swedish league speedway in 1948 until 1981 the highest speedway league in Sweden was called Division 1. The 1953 Individual Speedway World Championship was the eighth edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. Kumla Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Örebro County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the stad (Sweden), city of Kumla.
