Kulin Kanta
''Kulin Kanta'' is Indian cinema's 1925 crime thriller silent film directed by Homi Master. Based on a true incident the Bawla murder case, ''Kulin Kanta'' featured the story of the Maharaja Holkar of Indore and a dancing girl who wanted to escape from the harem. The film starred the "macho hero" Khalil cited as Indian cinema's "first ever star" in the role of the "lecherous Maharaja". The director of photography was G. K. Gokhale, with story written by Mohanlal G. Dave. Mumtaz Begum's role was played by Miss Moti while the rest of the cast included Miss Yakbal, Moman Behram, Gani Babu, Jamuna and Behram Vasania. Homi Master
Homi Master (?–1949) was an actor-director of early Indian cinema. His work extended from the silent era to the talkie era and up to his death. He produced his best films for Kohinoor Film Company and he has been referred to as "silent cinema's most successful film-maker". Master acted in the then-controversial film '' Bhakta Vidur'' (1921), ''Kala Naag'' and ''Kulin Kanta''. Some of his important films were ''Bismi Sadi'', ''Manorama'', ''Do Ghadi Ki Mauj'' (1935), ''Samaj Ki Bhool'' (1934) and ''Gul Sanobar'' (1934). He was active from 1921 to 1949 and made over seventy-eight films. His later films in Gujarati and Hindi were termed as B movies. He died in 1949. Kohinoor Film Company
Kohinoor Film Company was an Indian film studio established in 1918 by Dwarkadas Sampat (1884-1958). Along with Ranjit Movietone and the Imperial Film Company it was the largest movie studio when Indian talkies began in the 1930s. Kohinoor didn't just produce some of the most successful films of its era. The studio also trained such people as Nandlal Jaswantlal and Mohan Bhavnani, and produced artists such as Goharbai, Zebunissa and Rampiyari. History In 1918, the film pioneer Dwarkadas Narendas Sampat (1884-1958) established the Kohinoor Film Company. Sampat introduced wooden sets, doing away with the painted sceneries of the past. In 1923 a fire at the studio destroyed negatives of the company's films. However, Eastman Kodak willingly granted further credit for raw film stock. Khalil (actor)
Khalil was an Indian cinema actor of silent and talkie films. He achieved stardom with silent films like ''Gul-E-Bakavali'' (1924), ''Kulin Kanta'' (1925), and ''Lanka Ni Laadi'' (1925) which was a major success commercially. His other successes included ''Cinema Queen'' (1925) with Sulochana, ''Draupadi'' (1931), and ''Daily Mail'' (1930). Khalil is referred to as the "macho hero". Khalil worked from 1920 to 1941, making a transition to Talkies in 1931 with ''Draupadi'' directed by B. P. Mishra, and ''Daulat Ka Nasha'' directed by Pesi Karani. A silent film is a film with no synchronized Sound recording and reproduction, recorded sound (or more generally, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of intertitle, title cards. The term "silent film" is something of a misnomer, as these films were almost always accompanied by live sounds. The Holkar (Pronunciation: �o(ː)ɭkəɾ dynasty was a Maratha clan of Dhangar origin in India. The Holkars were generals under Peshwa Baji Rao I, and later became Maharajas of Indore in Central India as an independent member of the Maratha Empire until 1818. Later, their kingdom became a princely state under the protectorate of British India. The dynasty was founded with Malhar Rao, who joined the service of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire in 1721, and quickly rose to the rank of Subedar. Tukoji Rao Holkar III
Maharajadhiraj Sir Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Tukojirao III Holkar XIII Bahadur (26 November 1890 – 21 May 1978) was the Maharaja of Indore State in central India between 1903 and 1926. Early years Tukoji was born in 1890, the son of Shivajirao Holkar, Maharaja of Indore. His mother was Maharani Sita Bai Sahib Holkar. His father abdicated in on 31 January 1903, whereupon Tukoji became Maharaja. As he was only 13 years old, a council of regency was appointed, which lasted until he came of age. Zenana ( fa, زنانه, ur, , bn, জেনানা, hi, ज़नाना) literally meaning "of the women" or "pertaining to women", in Persian language contextually refers to the part of a house belonging to a Muslim, Sikh, or Hindu family in the Indian subcontinent which is reserved for the women of the household.
