Kukës (; sq-definite, Kukësi) is a city in Albania. The city is the capital of the surrounding municipality of Kukës and county of Kukës County, Kukës, one of 12 constituent Counties of Albania, counties of the republic. It spans and had a total population of 15,643 people as of 2023. Geologically, the surrounding area is dominated by mountainous and high terrain. The city sprawls across the Lumë (region), Luma Plain within the Albanian Alps between the banks of Lake Fierza and the hills of the northernmost Korab, Korab Mountains and westernmost Šar Mountains, Sharr Mountains. Kukës County
Kukës County (; ) is a landlocked county in northeastern Albania, with the capital in Kukës. The county spans and had a total population of 61,998 people as of 2021. The county borders on the counties of Dibër County, Dibër, Lezhë County, Lezhë and Shkodër County, Shkodër and the countries of Montenegro, Kosovo and North Macedonia. It is divided into three Municipalities of Albania, municipalities: Has Municipality, Has, Kukës and Tropojë. The municipalities are further subdivided into 290 towns and villages in total. Drin (river)
The Drin (; or ; ) is a river in Southeastern Europe with two major tributaries – the White Drin and the Black Drin and two distributaries – one discharging into the Adriatic Sea, in the Gulf of Drin and the other into the Buna River. Its catchment area extends across Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro and North Macedonia and is home to more than 1.6 million people. The river and its tributaries form the Gulf of Drin, an ocean basin that encompasses the northern Albanian Adriatic Sea Coast. Fierza Reservoir
The Fierza Reservoir () is a reservoir in Albania and Kosovo. The Drin River and parts of the White Drin and Black Drin also run through the reservoir. The size of the lake is , of which belong to Kosovo. It is long and has a depth of . On the Albanian side of the lake there are many canyons and some small islands. The dam is tall. In 2014, the lake was declared a Regional Nature Park by the Kukës County Council. The reservoir was formed as a result of the construction of the Fierza Hydroelectric Power Station in 1978 by the Albanian government. White Drin
The White Drin or White Drim (; , ) is a river in Kosovo and northern Albania, a ca. long headstream of the Drin. Course Kosovo The Kosovo section of the White Drin flows entirely in the semi-karst part of Kosovo, in an arc-shaped -long course. The river originates in the southern slopes of the Zhleb mountain, north of the town of Peja. The river springs near the Bukuroshja e Fjetur Cave. The cave is multi-levelled, not much explored and has a lake inside. The water from the spring was used by the Peja brewery. The stream is originally a sinking river which eventually springs out from the strong well and falls down as a -high waterfall named the White Drin Waterfall near the village of Radac, away from Peja. The Kingdom of Dardania () was a polity in the central Balkans in the region of Dardania during classical antiquity. The Kosovo War (; sr-Cyrl-Latn, Косовски рат, Kosovski rat) was an armed conflict in Kosovo that lasted from 28 February 1998 until 11 June 1999. The Black Drin, or Black Drim (; ) is a river in North Macedonia and Albania. It flows out of Lake Ohrid in Struga, North Macedonia. It is long and its drainage basin is . Its average discharge is .
