Juraj Kukura
Juraj Kukura (born 15 March 1947, in Prešov) is a Slovak actor. Kukura studied acting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). In 1985, when he emigrated to West Germany, his films were banned in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic until Communist rule ended during the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Thanks to his charismatic personality he usually portrayed strong, leading characters. In 2004, he received DOSKY Award for performing ''Martin'' in '' The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?'' by Edward Albee. In 2003 he became managing director of Arena Theatre. Recognition In October 2017, Kukura was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Czech president Miloš Zeman. In 2020 he won a Crystal Wing Awards in the 'Theater and Audiovisual Arts' category. In January 2025, Kukura was awarded Pribina Cross, 1st class for extraordinary contributions to development of culture in Slovakia by the president of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini. Philipp Kukura
Philipp Kukura FRS FRSC (born 26 March 1978) is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He is best known for pioneering contributions to femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS), interferometric scattering microscopy (iSCAT) and the development of mass photometry. Education and early life He was born in Bratislava, then Czechoslovakia in a family of Slovak actor Juraj Kukura. In 1984 the family emigrated to Germany. In 2002 he graduated with a Master of Chemistry from the University of Oxford and competed in the 2001 and 2002 Rugby League Varsity matches. In 2006 he completed his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley College of Chemistry. Career and research After completing his PhD, Philipp Kukura moved to Zürich. Kukurá (Cucurá, Kokura) is a spurious language, fabricated by an interpreter in Brazil. History When Alberto Vojtěch Frič visited Rio Verde, Brazil, in 1901 he took with him a Kainguá Amerindian called Guzmán who said he spoke the language of the local '' Chavante'' people. A word list was subsequently published for the so-called Kukurá language, thought to be an isolate, in 1931.
