Kryvyi Rih University
The Kryvyi Rih National University (), colloquially known as KNU (), is located in Kryvyi Rih, one of the main industrial cities of Ukraine. Currently, its structure consists of seven Faculty (division), faculties (academic departments) and five institutes. It was founded in 1922 as the Kryvyi Rih Evening Working College, and reorganized onto Kryvyi Rih Mining University. During the Soviet Union era, Kryvyi Rih University was one of the top professional universities in the USSR. In 2011 Cabinet of Ukraine founded Kryvyi Rih National University by uniting Technic University, Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, State Pedagogical University, Kryvyi Rih State University of Economics and Technology, Institute of Economics and also Institute of Metallurgy (a branch of National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine at that moment). Yuriy Vilkul
Yurii Hryhorovych Vilkul (; born 14 November, 1949) is a Ukrainian politician, who served first as elected mayor of Kryvyi Rih from 2010 to 2020, then later again as acting mayor since 2021. He is currently a member of Vilkul Bloc – Ukrainian Perspective, which is led by his son Oleksandr Vilkul. Political Career Mayor of Kryvyi Rih In the 2010 Ukrainian local elections, Vilkul won the Kryvyi Rih mayoral election, securing his first term in office. On October 25, 2015, during the 2015 Ukrainian local elections, Vilkul defeated his opponent by 752 votes (0.5% margin) in the second round, out of a total 108,000 voters. In the election, Myloboh won five out of the city's seven districts. But in the city's smallest district, Inhuletskyi District, Vilkul won a disproportionately large number of votes. Oleksandr Yuriyovych Vilkul (; born 24 May 1974), also known as Aleksandr Yuryevich Vilkul () is a Ukrainian businessman and politician who is currently serving as Head of the Ukrainian Military Administration of Kryvyi Rih. He has previously served as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Born in Kryvyi Rih in 1974, Vilkul originally pursued a career in mining, eventually becoming manager. In 2003, he joined the Party of Regions, becoming a People's Deputy of Ukraine in 2006. Moscow State Mining University () is a Russian institute of higher education that prepares mining engineers. In 2014, the university merged with the National University of Science and Technology MISiS and became a part of it as the Moscow Mining Institute (College of Mining).
