Kryvbas Company (Ukraine)
The Kryvbas Company is a company of the Dnipro-1 Regiment of the Liut Brigade of the Special Tasks Patrol Police subordinated to Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The regiment is currently based in Kryvyi Rih. It was established in 2014 and has, since then seen regular combat on the frontlines in addition to special counter-crime operations in Kryvyi Rih. History In April 2014, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, announced the establishment of a volunteer corps of special units of the Special Tasks Patrol Police. In June 2014, the head of the Kryvyi Rih, Andriy Grechuh, took the initiative to create the Kryvbas Special Purpose Company. Tonenke (, ; ) is a village in Pokrovsk Raion (district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at northwest ( NW) of the centre of Donetsk city. Donetsk Oblast, also referred to as Donechchyna (, ), is an Oblasts of Ukraine, oblast in eastern Ukraine. It is Ukraine's most populous province, with around 4.1 million residents. Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone (), or ATO zone (), was a term used by the media, public, the government of Ukraine, and the OSCE and other foreign institutions to identify Ukrainian territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions (oblasts) under the control of Russian military forces and pro-Russian separatists. The Special Police Forces () is a Ukrainian volunteer corps of law enforcement units, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. History In April 2014, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov issued an order to create battalions of special purpose within the Ministry of Internal Affairs structure. Their goal was to protect public order and important facilities across Ukraine, but all of these units were eventually sent to the east to counter Russian aggression. Arsen Avakov
Arsen Borysovych Avakov (, ; born 2 January 1964) is a Ukrainian politician of Armenian descent who served as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine from 2014 to 2021. He was the Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration from 2005 to 2010, a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine from 2007 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2021 and a member of the Verkhovna Rada from 2012 to 2014. Outside politics, Avakov was a member of Euro 2012 Organizing Committee in 2007 and a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. He was awarded the Honored Economist of Ukraine in 2007. The Liut Brigade (, also spelled Lyut), is an assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine formed on January 13, 2023, as a merger of three Special Purpose units from the War in Donbas (2014–2022), War in Donbas.
