Krystyna Lenkowska
Krystyna Lenkowska (born 1957) is a Polish poet and translator. She has been included in the representative anthology of Polish women poets ''Scattering the Dark'' (White Pine Press 2016, Buffalo-New York). Her translation of poems by Emily Dickinson, the Brontës, Michael Ondaatje, Anne Carson, Ruth Padel, Dana Gioia have been published in the literary Polish journals and books. She lives in Rzeszow. Career as a writer Her poems, fragments of prose, translations, essays, notes and interviews have been published in literary magazines in Poland including: Akcent, Fraza, Nowa Okolica Poetów, Odra, Pobocza, Pracownia, Przekrój, Topos, Twórczość, Tygiel, Wyspa, Zeszyty Literackie, and Znad Wilii. In the US, in Ewa Hryniewicz-Yarbrough’s translation, some of her poems have appeared in Absinthe, Boulevard, Chelsea, Confrontation, The Normal School, and Spoon River Poetry Review. The Society of Authors ZAiKS (, where the acronym stands for the Society′s original founding name, ''Society of Authors and Stage Composers'', or ''ZAiKS''), established 1918, was for many years the sole legal Polish copyright collective, and has remained the dominant one, following the loss of its ''de facto'' government-granted monopoly in 1995 as a result of entry into force of the new copyright law of Poland. The Piwnica pod Baranami () is a Polish literary cabaret located in Kraków, Poland. For over thirty years, in the People's Republic of Poland, Piwnica pod Baranami served as the most renowned political cabaret in the country, until the end of (and beyond) History of Poland (1945-1989), the communist era. Created by Piotr Skrzynecki in 1956, the cabaret continues its activities, contrary to rumours that it has been closed after the death of its founder in 1997. It resides at its original location in the medieval Kraków Old Town, Old Town district, at Main Market Square, Kraków, the Main Market Square (next to Vis-á-vis café). At first, the facility was a meeting place for Kraków students.
