She is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 117th district, serving from 2018 to 2022. She is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. Krystle McLaughlin is a Caribbean-American structural biophysicist. She is an assistant professor of chemistry at Vassar College. Early life and education McLaughlin grew up in Tobago, where she met Joan and Jay Mandle, professors at Colgate University, who encouraged her to apply. She studied physics at Colgate University, graduating in 2006. She was the only woman of colour in her graduating physics class. At Colgate University she was a leader of the Society of Physics Students. She has since returned to Colgate University, to speak at their annual ''SophoMORE Connections'' event, introducing undergraduate students to alumni. Krystle Carrington (also Grant and Jennings) is a fictional character from the 1980s American TV series ''Dynasty'', created by Richard and Esther Shapiro. Portrayed by Linda Evans, the character was introduced in the 1981 pilot episode.
