Krymske, Donetsk Oblast
Krymske (; ) is a Russian-occupied rural settlement in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about northeast from Donetsk city and northeast from Toretsk. The settlement was crucial to the full capture of Toretsk during the battle of Toretsk in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 1 February 2025, Liveuamap announced that the settlement had been captured by the Russian forces which had consequently advanced outside of it as well. Donetsk ( , ; ; ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin, and Stalino, is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast, which is currently occupied by Russia as the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic. Live Universal Awareness Map, commonly known as Liveuamap, is an internet service to monitor and indicate activities on online geographic maps, particularly of locations with ongoing armed conflicts. It was developed by the Ukrainian software engineers from Dnipro, Rodion Rozhkovskiy and Oleksandr Bilchenko. Toretsk
Toretsk (; ) is an industrial city in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It served as the administrative center of Toretsk urban hromada. As of January 2022, its population was approximately It has its origins as the hamlet Shcherbynivka, built during the mid-19th century developments in coal mining in the Donbas region. It developed over the following century with the rise of rail transport. Between 1936–2016, the city was named Dzerzhynsk after Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Soviet security service Cheka.
