FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2025
The 44th FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was held from 26 February to 9 March 2025 in Trondheim, Norway. Host selection The location was scheduled to be decided in May 2020 during the 52nd FIS Congress in Pattaya, Thailand, but that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The vote instead took place during a video conference on 3 October 2020. Trondheim won the bid to host the event unanimously as there were no opposing bids submitted. This was the second time the city is hosting the Championships, having hosted it in 1997. The city had also submitted a bid for 2023, but lost out to Planica, Slovenia. It was the sixth time for Norway to host the Championships. The Granåsen Ski Centre, which was also used during Trondheim's hosting of the 1997 Championships, was the main venue where the competitions were held. Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup is the world's highest level of ski jumping and the FIS Ski Flying World Cup as the subdivisional part of the competition. It was founded by Torbjørn Yggeseth for the 1979/80 season and organized by the International Ski Federation. Women began competing during the 2011/12 season. Johann André Forfang
Johann André Forfang (born 4 July 1995) is a Norwegian Ski jumping, ski jumper and 2018 team Olympic champion. Career Like his older brother Daniel Forfang he represents the club Tromsø SK. Forfang made his FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, World Cup debut in December 2014. He won team gold medal FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2016 with his teammates in Tauplitz/Bad Mitterndorf. His first individual world cup victory was in Titisee-Neustadt on 12 March 2016. In 2018 he won the last worldccup before the Olympic Games in Willingen. Robin Pedersen (born 31 August 1996) is a Norwegian ski jumper. At the 2016 Junior World Championships he won a silver medal in the team competition and placed 22nd in the normal hill. He made his Continental Cup debut in December 2015 in Rovaniemi, recording his first podiums in December 2018 in Lillehammer with a third place before managing back-to-back victories the next week in Ruka. He made his FIS Ski Jumping World Cup debut in March 2018 at the Holmenkollen ski festival. He collected his first World Cup points with a 30th place on New Years' Day 2019, later breaking the top 20 with an 18th place in Bischofshofen, both as part of the 2018-19 Four Hills Tournament where he finished 33rd overall. Robert Høneren Johansson (born 23 March 1990) is a former Norwegian ski jumper. He is a former ski flying world record holder, having landed a jump of in Vikersund on 18 March 2017. Johansson has often been nicknamed the "Wing Commander" for his distinctive handlebar moustache. He announced his retirement on May 20, 2025.
