Kristin Thornton
Kristin Thornton (born 5 March 1988) is an Australian rules footballer. He was recruited as the number 54 draft pick in the 2005 AFL draft from Peel Thunder. He made his debut for the Sydney Swans in round 8 against the Carlton Blues kicking one goal. He was delisted by the Swans at the end of the 2008 season after suffering an ACL injury, the same injury which destroyed his brother's AFL career "Ash" while at the West Coast Eagles. He was handed a lifeline after the Swans decided to pick him up in the rookie draft of 2008. South West Football League
The South West Football League is an Australian rules football league based in the South West (Western Australia), south-west of Western Australia. The league is affiliated to the West Australian Country Football League. History The idea of creating a larger league was discussed early in 1951. The idea that three clubs from the Collie Football Association and the three clubs from the Bunbury Football association would invigorate public interest in the South West region on the state. Talks continued into 1952 and it was finally agreed to trial a competition with all the two associations clubs for a two-year period. The associations administrations would remain separate. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Peel Thunder
The Peel Thunder Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The team is based in Mandurah, Western Australia, with their home ground being Rushton Park. The club joined the WAFL as an expansion team in 1997. Since 2014 Peel have been in a formal alignment with the Fremantle Dockers of the Australian Football League, an arrangement which sees Fremantle's reserve players play for Peel. Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player.
