The third season of ''Australian Survivor'' is a television series based on the international reality competition franchise ''Survivor''. This season, announced by Ten in November 2015, is the third Australian edition of the program, the second to feature non-celebrity contestants and the first to air on Network Ten. The first season aired on the Nine Network in 2002, while the second season (a celebrity edition) aired in 2006 on the Seven Network. This season gives ''Australian Survivor'' the rare distinction of being one of the few Australian programs to have aired across all three commercial networks in Australia. The season was filmed in Samoa from May to July 2016 and premiered on 21 August 2016 on Network Ten. Hosted by actor Jonathan LaPaglia, the program featured 24 Australian castaways competing for 55 days for a grand prize of A$500,000. Jonathan LaPaglia (, ; born 31 August 1969) is an Australian actor and television personality. He has hosted Network 10's revival of '' Australian Survivor'' since 2016. As an actor, LaPaglia is known for his roles as Frank B. Parker in the television series '' Seven Days'', Kevin Debreno in ''The District'' and Detective Tommy McNamara in ''New York Undercover''. Lee Andrew Carseldine (born 17 November 1975) is a retired professional Australian cricketer, entrepreneur and media personality. Education Carseldine has a Masters in Applied Finance and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Queensland University of Technology. Sporting career Carseldine played 132 matches for the Queensland Bulls in all formats, with 2298 runs from 47 first-class games and 1529 runs from 59 one-day games. Carseldine's back stress fractures and degenerative disc problems forced him into retirement in 2004 after 24 first class games. He made a comeback in November 2007, playing for the Bulls in Sheffield Shield, FR Cup, and Twenty20 matches. He also earned a spot in the Rajasthan Royals Indian Premier League side.
