Kristen Stalleland
Kristen Stalleland (6 February 1861 – 15 February 1949) was a Norwegian farmer, magazine editor, children's writer, biographer and translator. Stalleland was born in Landvik. He founded the children's magazine ''Norsk Barneblad'' in 1887, originally called ''Sysvorti'', and edited the magazine from 1887 to 1894, and from 1898 to 1904. Landvik
Landvik is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1971. The municipality's area is now located in the western and central part of the present-day municipality of Grimstad. The administrative centre was the village of Roresanden, just up the hill from the Landvik Church. Other villages in Landvik include Molland, Reddal, Skiftenes, Tjore, and Østerhus. Today, the name Landvik is still used to designate the westernmost part of the municipality of Grimstad, near the Prestegårdskogen housing development. History The parish of ''Hommedal'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). In 1865, the municipality was renamed ''Landvig''. ''Norsk Barneblad'' (Norwegian: ''the Norwegian Children’s Magazine'') is a Norwegian children's magazine, issued monthly in Nynorsk. It was founded by Kristen Stalleland in 1887, under the name ''Sysvorti'', was renamed to ''Norskt Barneblad'' in 1891, and to the current name ''Norsk Barneblad'' from 1916. It had a circulation of 3,600 copies in 2004, while its circulation was 11–17,000 copies between 1916 and 1985. Among its best known comics strips is '' Smørbukk'', which has been published on the back cover of the magazine since 1938. Christian Jensen Lofthuus
Christian Jensen Lofthuus (Kristian Jenssøn Lofthus) (15 May 1750 - 13 June 1797) was a prominent farmer from Risør, Norway. Between 1786-87, he led a large peasant revolt in Norway which became known as the '' Lofthusreisingen''. Biography Lofthus was born in Risør in Nedenes county, Norway. He was the son of an unwed mother from a local farming family and a father of higher social status and started life as a farmer on the Lofthus farm in Vestre Moland just outside Lillesand. Soon, he also had interests in a sawmill and engaged in shipping and trade and had traveled as a skipper to both Denmark and Great Britain. Later, he was being tried and ruined for violating trade restrictions, he became outspoken against the social differences he saw at the root of his problems. Norwegian ( no, norsk, links=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is an official language. Along with Swedish and Danish, Norwegian forms a dialect continuum of more or less mutually intelligible local and regional varieties; some Norwegian and Swedish dialects, in particular, are very close.
