Kristaps Krištopans
Kristaps Krištopans (born 27 March 1983) is a Latvian businessman and politician. He was elected to the 14th Saeima on the list of the Latvia First Party. Biography Krištopans is the son of Latvian basketball player, businessman and politician Vils Krištopans. He trained in basketball and played in the LJBL, and later in amateur tournaments. He received his higher education in the US, graduating from Florida Atlantic University (Bachelor of Business Administration, 2005) and Miami University (Master of Business Administration, 2008). In 2021, he went bankrupt as a private individual, at that time his debts exceeded EUR 1.2 million. Before his election to the Parliament, he reported debts of more than EUR 900 000. K. Parliamentary elections were held in Latvia on 1 October 2022, following the end of the term of the 13th Saeima elected in 2018. Electoral system The 100 members of the Saeima are elected by open list, proportional representation from five multi-member constituencies ranging in size from 12 to 36 seats and based on the regions of Latvia, with overseas votes included in the Riga constituency. Seats are allocated using the Sainte-Laguë method with a national electoral threshold of 5%. Voters may cast "specific votes" for candidates on the list that they have voted for. Latvia's First Party
The Latvia's First Party ( lv, Latvijas Pirmā Partija) was a socially conservative, Christian-democratic right-wing political party in Latvia. It merged with Latvian Way to form Latvia's First Party/Latvian Way in 2007. It was founded on 25 May 2002, led by Ēriks Jēkabsons and Ainārs Šlesers. The party included a number of priests from all the major branches of Christianity in Latvia (Lutheran, Catholic, Orthodox and Baptist) as well as members of ''Jaunā Paaudze (New Generation)'', a controversial charismatic group. Egils Levits (born 30 June 1955) is a Latvian politician, lawyer, political scientist and jurist who has served as the tenth president of Latvia since 8 July 2019. He was a member of the European Court of Justice from 2004 to 2019.
