Krishak League
The Bangladesh Krishak League () is a farmers' organization in Bangladesh. Its mother party is the Bangladesh Awami League. It was established on April 19, 1972, with the aim of representing farmers, advocating for their rights, and supporting agricultural development. History The Bangladesh Krishak League was established on 19 April 1972 by President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Krishak League joined the national unity government, BAKSAL, formed by President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On 15 March 1995 during the Bangladesh Nationalist Party tenure, Bangladesh Police killed farmers when they fired on protesting farmers. The Awami League, officially known as Bangladesh Awami League, is a major List of political parties in Bangladesh, political party in Bangladesh. Matia Chowdhury
Matia Chowdhury (; 30 June 1942 – 16 October 2024) was a Awami League leader and one of the key perpetrators of the July massacre orchestrated and executed by Sheikh Hasina's toppled regime. She died while awaiting trial for crimes against humanity due to her active involvement in the violent suppression of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement during the Student–People's uprising. She was a deputy leader of parliament, and a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Sherpur-2 constituency from 2009 to 2024. She held the position of minister of agriculture under the first, second and third premierships of Sheikh Hasina, from 1996 to 2001 and then again from 2009 to 2019 during the periods when the Bangladesh Awami League held power. Sunamganj District (), is a district located in north-eastern Bangladesh in Sylhet Division. History In the ancient period, Sunamganj was part of the Laur Kingdom. After the conquest of Sylhet (Kingdom of Gauiurh) in 1303 by Muslims under the spiritual guidance of Shah Jalal, Shah Kamal Quhafah established a capital in Shaharpara with the aid of his twelve disciples and his second son, Shah Muazzamuddin Qureshi, who also maintained a second sub-administration office at Nizgaon on the bank of the river Surma River, Surma, present day Shologhar (there is now Shologhar Masjid and madrasa) in Sunamganj town, which was administered by one of his descendants.
