Krikor Mekhitarian
Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian (; born 15 November 1986) is a Brazilian chess grandmaster, streamer, and the current Director of Portuguese Content for Chess.com. He is a two-time Brazilian Chess Champion. Early life Born to a Brazilian mother and a Lebanese father, both of Armenian descent, he learned to play chess aged seven. Career Mekhitarian achieved his Grandmaster title within the space of eight months, securing his first norm at the 26th Brazilian Championships held in 2009, tying for third place with a score of 7.5/11. His second norm came with an eighth-place finish and a 6/9 score in the La Laguna tournament held in April 2010. His final GM norm came in June 2010, with a 9th-place finish in the International Chess Festival Eforie, held in Romania, where he scored 8/11. The 41st Chess Olympiad (), organised by the FIDE, Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) and comprising an open and women's tournament, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess, was an international team chess event that took place in Tromsø, Norway, between 1–14 August 2014. The organiser was Chess Olympiad Tromsø 2014 AS on behalf of FIDE. A total number of 1,570 players participated at the Olympiad, with 881 in the men and 689 in the women's section. The number of participating teams was 177 from 172 countries in the open section and 136 from 131 countries in the women's section. The main competitive events were held at Mackhallen. The 44th Chess Olympiad was an international team chess event organised by the FIDE, International Chess Federation (FIDE) in Chennai, India, from 28 July to 10 August 2022. It consisted of two main tournaments—an Open event, enabling participation of players from all genders, and a Women's event, enabling participation of female players only—as well as several events to promote chess. The Olympiad was initially supposed to take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, the host of the Chess World Cup 2019, in August 2020, but it was later moved to Moscow. However, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then relocated to Chennai following Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
