''Kottukkaali'' ( English: ''The Adamant Girl'') is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language road drama film directed by P. S. Vinothraj and produced by SK Productions. The film, which revolves around Meena who loves a man from a lower caste but her family thinks she is possessed and cast the spell out of her, stars Soori and Anna Ben (in her Tamil debut). The film was selected in the Forum section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival and was screened on 16 February 2024. It was released on 23 August 2024 to critical acclaim. Plot Paandi, Meena's maternal uncle, returns from abroad after several years, intending to marry her. However, Meena is resolute in her love for a boy from an oppressed caste, which her family attributes to a spell. To exorcise this perceived influence, Paandi, accompanied by his parents, relatives, and friends, embarks on a journey to consult a seer. Soori (actor)
Ramalakshmanan Muthuchamy (born 27 August 1977), professionally known as Soori, is an Indian actor and comedian who predominantly appears in Tamil cinema. Debuting in 1998, he acted in several uncredited roles before his major breakthrough in '' Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'' (2009), where he earned the moniker Parotta Soori. After a decade as a comedian, his dramatic turn as a lead actor in Vetrimaaran's '' Viduthalai Part 1'' (2023) received critical acclaim. Anna Ben is an Indian actress working primarily in Malayalam films, in addition to Tamil and Telugu films. The daughter of screenwriter Benny P. Nayarambalam, she made her acting debut with '' Kumbalangi Nights'' in 2019. For her starring roles in the dramas '' Helen'' (2019) and '' Kappela'' (2020), she won two Kerala State Film Awards. P. S. Vinothraj (born 18 June 1988) is an Indian film director and a screenwriter. He wrote and directed the Tamil film, ''Pebbles (film), Pebbles'' (''Koozhangal'') which is also his debut film. ''Pebbles'' was screened at the 2021 International Film Festival Rotterdam, 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam held in Netherlands on 4 February 2021, where it received the International Film Festival Rotterdam#Tiger Award winners, Tiger Award at the festival.
