Kotiteollisuus
Kotiteollisuus is a Finnish hard rock and heavy metal band that was formed in 1991 in Lappeenranta. The band released its first demo tape in 1993 under the name "Hullu ukko ja Kotiteollisuus" ('Crazy Old Fogey and Cottage Industry'). The shortened name and current line-up were established in 1997. Kotiteollisuus is said to combine "furious heavy metal with Finnish sullenness". Subjects frequently touched upon in songs are the current state of the nation, religion and mankind in general. The band members have become known for their outspokenness during interviews and shows. The guitarist-vocalist Jouni Hynynen is especially known for insulting and commenting on the audience during live shows. Kotiteollisuus is the self-titled album of the Finnish heavy metal band Kotiteollisuus, their 11th. Released on 2 March 2011, it debuted at number one on the Finnish Albums Chart. Jouni Hynynen
Jouni Kalervo Hynynen (born 15 February 1970) is the guitarist/vocalist in Kotiteollisuus, a Finnish heavy metal band. He also writes the band's music along with his bandmates, and contributes majority of the lyrics. He has also written books, hosted a reality TV show called "Äijät" ('The men') with Jone Nikula and been a columnist for newspapers. He is known not only for his desperate and dark lyrics and his extraordinary looks and attitude, but also his sense of humour, which can be seen, for example, iNO SORI! where Hynynen is the "special editor-in-chief". Hynynen, along with his Kotiteollisuus bandmates Hongisto and Sinkkonen, and Antti "Hyrde" Hyyrynen of Stam1na, his brother Janne (formerly of Mokoma) and Kaarle of Viikate use the magazine to make fun of tabloids, among other things. CMX (band)
CMX, originally Cloaca Maxima, is a Finnish rock band. They originally played hardcore punk, but soon expanded to play a wide variety of rock formats, including progressive rock, heavy metal, and mainstream rock 'n' roll. Throughout their career, they have been influenced by progressive rock bands such as Rush, Yes, Tool and King Crimson. The progressive influence is most evident on their albums ''Dinosaurus Stereophonicus'' (2000) and ''Talvikuningas'' (2007). CMX have gradually gained large-scale mainstream following in Finland. They are especially known for the poetic lyrics of A. W. Yrjänä that often contain references to mythology and religion. Johanna Kustannus Oy (Ltd) has been the name of two Finnish record labels. has been a founding member for both companies, and Pekka Aarnio has also been involved with both. Ilosaarirock
The Ilosaarirock Festival is an annual rock festival held on the second weekend of July in Joensuu, Eastern Finland. Founded in 1971, Ilosaarirock is the second oldest rock festival in Finland still active, and one of the oldest in Europe. In 2007 the event had 21,000 daily visitors. The festival sold out in advance every year from 1998 to 2011. Ilosaarirock is an entity of events that in its entirety, with clubs and side-events, spans Friday to Sunday. The actual festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday. The festival site, called Laulurinne, stages performances on five separate stages with over 50 artists. Nightwish
Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former lead singer Tarja Turunen. The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen, and then bassist Sami Vänskä after the release of their debut album, '' Angels Fall First'' (1997).
