Kościan
Kościan (german: Kosten) is a town on the Obra canal in west-central Poland, with a population of 23 952 inhabitants as of June 2014. Situated in the Greater Poland Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in Leszno Voivodeship (1975–1998), it is the capital of Kościan County. Polish nobleman Ignacy Wyssogota Zakrzewski was born nearby. Karydia ( el, Καρυδιά, before 1927: Τέχοβο - ''Techovo'', Macedonian and Bulgarian: Техово, ''Tehovo'') is a village in the municipality of Edessa, Pella regional unit, northern Greece. It is situated 9 km northwest of Edessa. At the church in the locality Kosteno ( el, Κόστενο, Macedonian and Bulgarian: Костен, ''Kosten'') there is an annual festival on 21 May, the day of Saint Helena. History There were 81 Christian households in the village of Tehova in 1619–1620. In the book "Ethnographie des Vilayets d'Adrianople, de Monastir et de Salonique", published in Constantinople in 1878, that reflects the statistics of the male population in 1873, ''Téhovo'' was noted as a village with 187 households and 880 Bulgarian inhabitants. Annabel Kosten (born 23 May 1977) is a retired freestyle swimmer from the Netherlands, who won the bronze medal with the Dutch women's 4×100 m freestyle relay team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Career Kosten made her international debut at the European LC Championships 2000 in Helsinki, Finland where she ended fifth in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, she did so alongside Thamar Henneken, Chantal Groot and Wilma van Hofwegen. At the European Short Course Swimming Championships 2001 in Antwerp, Belgium she won the silver medal in the 4×50 meter freestyle, together with Suze Valen, Hinkelien Schreuder and Inge de Bruijn.
