Korea Football League
The Korean National Semi-professional Football League was contested between South Korean works teams and military teams from 1964 to 2002. It was the predecessor of the Korea National League which was founded in 2003. History After the introduction of football from the UK navy in the late 19th century, football experienced a boom in Korea and many football clubs and school teams were formed in the 1910s. There were also many corporate football clubs especially in Seoul and Pyongyang, two big cities in Korea. The corporate club division was made in All Joseon Football Tournament in Pyongyang in 1930, and Seoul Semi-professional Football League was founded in 1939, but both were stopped because of the Japanese government's policy during World War II. South Korean Football League System
The South Korean football league system contains two professional leagues, two semi-professional leagues, and various amateur leagues for South Korea, Korean Football (soccer), football clubs. The highest level of football in South Korea is the K League 1, which was founded in 1983. K League 2 was founded in 2013 and is currently a second division. Below the level of the professional leagues are the semi-professional K3 League, which was founded in K3 League (2007), 2007 and refounded in 2020, and the K4 League, which was founded in 2020, and serve as the third division and fourth division, respectively. There was no avenue for progression between any of the leagues until 2012, when the K League 2 was founded. The highest level of women's football in South Korea is the WK League, which was founded in 2009. Cheil Industries FC is a defunct South Korean semi-professional football club that was located in Daegu, South Korea. The club played at the highest level in South Korea in the 1960s, winning the national league on three occasions and the national cup twice. Background Cheil Industries FC was founded in April 1962 by Cheil Industries of Samsung Group, and was based in Daegu in south-eastern Korea. The club competed in the Korea Semi-Professional Football League which at that time was the highest level league in the South Korean football league system. Many works, banks and military sides competed in the league which was run with Spring and Autumn stages each year. Gyeongju Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power FC () or simply Gyeongju KHNP is a South Korean football team based in Gyeongju. They currently compete in the K3 League. They are run by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and play their home games at Gyeongju Civic Stadium. Gimcheon Sangmu Football Club () is a South Korean professional football club based in Gimcheon that competes in the K League 1, the top tier of South Korean football. Sangmu is the sports division of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. Sangmu's playing staff is made up of young South Korean professional footballers serving their compulsory two-year military duty.
