''KoreAm'', or ''KoreAm Journal,'' was a monthly print magazine published from 1990 to December 2015. It was dedicated to news, commentary, politics, lifestyle and culture published in the United States. It was the oldest and most widely circulated English-language monthly magazine for the Asian American community. The magazine has featured prominent Asian American leaders, politicians, artists, entertainers, athletes and entrepreneurs. It also covered current events related to North Korea, South Korea, Asian Americans, immigrants and communities of color. In 2018, the publication relaunched as ''KORE magazine''. ''Audrey Magazine'', or also known as ''Audrey'', was a publication focusing on Asian American women, published quarterly throughout the U.S. History The first issue of the magazine hit newsstands in March 2003. The magazine was named after the publisher's daughter to acknowledge that many Asian American women have English names. ''Audrey'' covered Asians and Asian Americans in popular culture, fashion and beauty trends, lifestyle and travel, as well as social and cultural issues relevant to Asians and Asian Americans. Its sister publication was '' KoreAm''. In its 10-year history, ''Audrey'' has been an important voice, covering stories well before the mainstream media picks them up, whether it is Asian plastic surgery, an emerging Asian American talent, or the K-pop craze. Jane Kim
Jane Jungyon Kim (born July 9, 1977) is an American attorney and politician, and the first Korean American elected official in San Francisco. She represented San Francisco's District 6 on the Board of Supervisors between 2011 and 2019. She is a member of the San Francisco's Democratic County Central Committee. She is executive director of the California Working Families Party. Prior to her election to the Board of Supervisors, Kim was a member and then president of the San Francisco Board of Education. In 2016, she ran for the 11th California State Senate District, but lost to Scott Wiener in a run-off election after finishing first place in the primary. She was a candidate for mayor in the 2018 San Francisco mayoral election, finishing third with 24.03% of the first-round vote. Angry Asian Man is an Internet blog founded in 2001 by Phil Yu. It focuses on Asian American news, media, and politics. ''The Washington Post'' calls Angry Asian Man "a daily must-read for the media-savvy, socially conscious, pop-cultured Asian American." Daniel Dae Kim (born August 4, 1968) is an American actor. He is known for his many roles in network television and theater. Phil Yu
Phil Yu (born 1978), also known as Angry Asian Man, is an American blogger. Early life and education Yu's parents are immigrants from Korea. Yu grew up in the Bay Area in California. Yu graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Radio/TV/Film from Northwestern University and earned a M.A. in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (as a Provost Fellow). Korean American
Korean Americans () are Americans of full or partial Korean ethnic descent. While the broader term Overseas Korean in America () may refer to all ethnic Koreans residing in the United States, the specific designation of Korean American implies the holding of American citizenship. As of 2022, there are 1.5–1.8 million Americans of Korean descent, of whom roughly 1.04 million were born abroad, accounting for 8% of all Asian Americans and 0.5% of the total U.S. population. Korean Diaspora
The Korean diaspora consists of around 7.3 million people, both descendants of early emigrants from the Korea, Korean Peninsula, as well as more recent emigrants from Korea. Around 84.5% of overseas Koreans live in just five countries: the United States, China, Japan, Canada, and Uzbekistan. Other countries with greater than 0.5% Korean minorities include Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. All of these figures include both permanent and temporary migrants. Private Internet Access (PIA) is a personal VPN service that allows users to connect to multiple locations. In 2018, former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès was named chief technology officer of PIA's parent company, London Trust Media, despite his criminal conviction for defrauding MtGox and its users.
