Koppa is a panchayat town in Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the headquarters of Koppa sub-district. The name "Koppa" is derived from the Kopada Veerabadra Swamy Temple, a historic site that attracts devotees from the Malnad region. Kuvempu University is a public state university in Shankaraghattta, Bhadravathi taluk, Shivamogga, Karnataka, India. It was established in 1987 by the act of the Karnataka state legislature through amendment No. 28/1976 dated 29 January 1989 under the Karnataka State University Act 1976. Tunga River
The Tunga River (alternatively spelled Thunga) is a river in Karnataka state, southern India. The river is born in the Western Ghats (Sahyadri mountains) on a hill known as ''Varaha Parvata'' at a place called '' Gangamoola''. From here, the river flows through two districts in Karnataka - Chikmagalur District and Shimoga District. It is 147 km long and merges with the Bhadra River at Koodli, a small town near Shimoga City, Karnataka. The confluence of the two rivers continues as Tungabhadra from this point on. Chikmagalur, officially Chikkamagaluru () is an administrative district in the Malnad subregion of Karnataka, India. It was called Kadur (''Cuddoor'') district till 1947. Coffee was first cultivated in India in Chikmagalur. The hills of Chikmagalur are parts of the Western Ghats and the source of Tunga and Bhadra rivers. Shivamogga Airport
Shivamogga Airport, officially renamed as Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Airport , is a domestic airport serving the city of Shimoga, Karnataka, India. It is located at Sogane, from Shimoga and from Bhadravathi. The airport was to be built under Public–Private Partnership (PPP) with the Government of Karnataka. However, due to delays in project execution, the contract was terminated in January 2015. On 15 June 2020, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, B. S. Yediyurappa, laid the foundation stone to start the construction of the airport at a cost of ₹ 4.5 billion.
