Koos Meinderts
Koos Meinderts (born 20 January 1953) is a Dutch people, Dutch writer of children's literature. Career Meinderts made his debut in 1983 with the children's book ''Mooi meegenomen''. In 2016, he won the Boekenleeuw for his book ''De zee zien''. In 2017, he won the Gouden Griffel for his book ''Naar het noorden''. Meinderts won the Vlag en Wimpel award three times: in 2003 for the book ''Keizer en de verhalenvader'', in 2018 for the book ''Dag poes!'' together with Bette Westera, Sjoerd Kuyper, Hans Hagen and Monique Hagen and in 2019 for the book ''De schelmenstreken van Reinaert de Vos''. In 2019, his book ''De Club van Lelijke Kinderen'' (''The Club of Ugly Children'') was made into a movie by Jonathan Elbers. Boekenleeuw
The Boekenleeuw is a Flemish literary award for the best book in children's literature by a Flemish author. History The ''Referendumprijs voor Vlaamse kinder- en jeugdboeken'' award was established in 1962. In 1986 this award was replaced by the Boekenleeuw and the Boekenwelp awards. The award was not given in 2017 due to reorganisation at Boek.be and due to reassessment of what awards the organisation would continue to support. The award was given again in 2018 sponsored by association of authors, composers and publishers SABAM and GAU (Groep Algemene Uitgevers). Several authors have received the award multiple times, including Bart Moeyaert (six times), Anne Provoost (three times) and Diane Broeckhoven (two times). Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Aside from these, the ''Gouden Penseel'' (golden paintbrush) is awarded to the best illustrated children's books (with silver ''penseel'' as a runner-up), and since 1997 the Gouden Zoen (golden kiss, with silver as a runner-up) is awarded to the best books for teenagers. Bette Westera
Bette Westera (born 20 June 1958) is a Dutch children's writer. She has won numerous awards for her work. Career Westera made her debut as children's book author in 1999 with the book ''Wil je met me trouwen?'' Westera went on to win numerous awards for her work, including the Gouden Griffel and the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs in 2015 for her poetry collection ''Doodgewoon'' (with illustrations by Sylvia Weve). The previous time a poetry collection won the Gouden Griffel award was twenty years prior in 1995 ( Ted van Lieshout's ''Begin een torentje van niks''). She also won several Zilveren Griffel awards as well as several Vlag en Wimpel awards over the years. The Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (CPNB, "Collective Promotion for the Dutch Book") is a Dutch organization that includes representatives of bookstores and publishers, whose goal is to promote Dutch literature. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts.
