Konstantin Makarevich
Konstantin Grigorievich Makarevich (25 January 1922 - 17 June 2017) was a Soviet Union, Soviet and Kazakhstani glaciologist. He made a significant scientific contribution to the development and popularization of glaciology. He headed the Soviet glaciological expedition on the Tuyuksu glacier from 1956 to 1992 and was the founder of the Tuyuksu glaciological station. For more than 20 years, he was as an official representative of the Soviet Union in the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS). He authored more than 200 scientific articles, monographs, regional and autobiographical books, and essays. Two glaciers and two passes in the Trans-Ili Alatau, Trans-Ili and Dzungarian Alatau, Dzhungarian Alatau are named after him. He was a veteran of World War II, an order-bearer. Shadrinsk () is a town in Kurgan Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Iset River ( Ob's basin) northwest of Kurgan. Population: History Shadrinsk was founded in 1662 as an agricultural and trade settlement. Shadrinsk hosted the second largest fair in the Urals region. Town status was granted to it from 1712 to 1737 and in 1781.
