Kon Tum Football Club ( vi, Câu lạc bộ bóng đá Kon Tum) is a Vietnamese football club based in Kon Tum. The club is playing its home matches at the 11,000-capacity Kon Tum Stadium. They currently play in the Vietnamese Second Division, after finishing top of their group in the Vietnamese Third Division during the 2023 season. History Early years and first dissolution The forerunner of Kon Tum was the Gia Lai – Kon Tum football team, founded in 1976. Despite being an amateur team, the team also once won the A2 championship, the second highest division of the country. The incarnation of the Kon Tum Football Club came into being in 1992 when the club was split into Gia Lai FC and Kon Tum FC. The Vietnamese Football League Second Division ( vi, Giải Bóng đá Hạng nhì Quốc gia) is the third tier professional association football league in Vietnam controlled by the Vietnam Football Federation. The 2017 Vietnamese National Football Second League was the 19th season of the Vietnamese National Football Second League. The season began on 5 May 2017 and finished on 1 August 2017. Rule changes In this season, there are 16 teams divided in two groups in qualifying stage according to geographic region. The top 4 team of each group will be qualified to final round.
