Its seat is the village of Wieliszew, which lies approximately north-east of Legionowo and north of Warsaw. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2017 its total population is 13,573. Wieliszew is a village in Legionowo County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland, in the bifurcation of the Vistula and Narew Rivers. It is the seat of the gmina ('' commune'' or '' municipality'' as administrative district) called Gmina Wieliszew. It lies approximately north-east of Legionowo and north of Warsaw. The village, which has a history of over 700 years and has been the seat of commune authorities since 1993, has a population of 3,122 and it is the most populated and economically strongest village of Gmina Wieliszew.
