Kolkata Metro Line 4
The Kolkata Metro Line 4 or the Yellow Line, also known as the Noapara - Barasat Line of the Kolkata Metro in India is a long metro route from Noapara to Barasat in North 24 Parganas, which is under construction. It is being built by RVNL. It will run mostly underground viaducts. It will run elevated until Jessore Road Station and then it goes underground towards Barasat metro station. It will have an interchange station at the NSCBI Airport with Kolkata Metro Line 6. Stations The stations of this corridor are: Progress of Dum Dum Cantonment metro station An amount of Rs 227 crore contract to build this station along with a mostly at-grade 2.16 km section from the Bagjola Canal to the existing ramp of the Airport Circular Railway track was awarded to Senbo Engineering Limited all the way back in June 2011. Madhyamgram
Madhyamgram is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata and also a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History Madhyamgram was one of the twelve feudal provinces of Bengal. It was under Pratapaditya Roy, ruler of Jessore during the Mughal Empire. On 21 December 1757 Mir Jafar, the Nawab of Bengal, presented twenty-four parganas to the East India Company as dowry which also included Madhyamgram, under Anwarpur Pargana, adjacent to Barasat. New Barrackpore is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata & a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. It is the capital of Kolkata. Birati is a locality in North Dumdum Municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata and also a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History Nimta-Birati area was a well known Janapada since the days of Laksmikanta Roy Choudhury. Later after his death in 1649, it became the capital of Laksmikanta's jagir and remained the administrative headquarters till 1716 when the capital was shifted to Barisha. Still Birati remains an abode of the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family. Biman Bandar is a metro station of Kolkata Metro (unofficially known as Airport metro station). It will serve the city's main airport, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Features This station will also have a yard, and it will be the largest underground facility of India, and city's first. It will be 550m long and 41.6m wide, and will facilitate stabling and reversal of rakes, but it will not be a carshed. Previously the station was planned elevated, but after objection from AAI, the route was reworked and the station was planned underground from Airport to New Barrackpore.
