Knut Ingebrigt Robberstad
Knut Ingebrikt Robberstad (22 April 1899 – 31 July 1981) was a Norwegian jurist and philologist. He was born in Askøy, Hordaland, Norway. He was a professor of jurisprudence at the University of Oslo from 1945 to 1969. His juridical publications include ''Oreigningsvederlaget'' (1968) and ''Rettsutferd'' (1969). A philologist who chaired Noregs Mållag from 1952 to 1957, he translated several documents from Old Norse, including ''Magnus Lagabøters bylov'' (1923), a law dating from the reign of Magnus IV of Norway Magnus Sigurdsson (c. 1115 – 12 November 1139), also known as Magnus the Blind, was King of Norway (being Magnus IV) from 1130 to 1135 and again from 1137 to 1139. Asbjørn Øverås
Asbjørn Øverås (4 April 1896, in Nesset, Møre og Romsdal – 13 October 1966) was a Norwegian educator. Born in Nesset, he worked as a headmaster in Orkdal from 1923. Having taken the dr.philos. degree in 1937, he worked as principal of Trondheim Cathedral School from 1938 to 1966. Hartvig Kiran
Hartvig Kiran (3 November 1911 – 15 August 1978) was a Norwegian author, lyricist and composer. He was most commonly associated with his broadcasts on the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. Biography Kiran was born at Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. His parents were Hartvig Nikolaisen Kiran (1876-1953) and Elisabeth Pettersson (1886-1967). After artium in 1931, he studied philology at the University of Oslo. In 1938, he took employment in the news room of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). Following the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, Kiran went into exile to Great Britain from 1941 to 1945. He worked as a newscaster for the Norwegian section of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). After the liberation of Norway in 1945, he continued at NRK and in 1958 he became head of NRK's Information Department. Kiran was brought in to introduce culture to listeners. Askøy is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island municipality is located in the Midhordland district of the county, sitting in a large group of islands immediately northwest of the city of Bergen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the urban village of Kleppestø on the southeastern shore of the island of Askøy. The municipality is the 328th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Askøy is the 36th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 29,816. Magnus IV Of Norway
Magnus Sigurdsson (c. 1115 – 12 November 1139), also known as Magnus the Blind, was King of Norway (being Magnus IV) from 1130 to 1135 and again from 1137 to 1139. His period as king marked the beginning of the civil war era in Norway, which lasted until 1240. Biography Magnus was the son of King Sigurd I of Norway and Borghild Olavsdotter. When King Sigurd died in 1130, Magnus became king of Norway together with his uncle Harald Gille. After four years of uneasy peace, Magnus began to openly prepare for war on Harald. On August 9, 1134, he defeated Harald in the decisive Battle at Färlev near Färlev in Stångenäs herred in Båhuslen. Harald fled to Denmark. Against the advice of his councilors, Magnus disbanded his army and traveled to Bergen to spend the winter there.
