Knut Billing
Knut Billing (15 January 1939 – 31 May 2007) was a Swedish politician, member of the Swedish Riksdag 1979–2002. He was a member of the Committee on Housing in 1983, and later in 1994 until 2002 as Speaker for the committee. He was also a member of the Swedish delegation to the Council of Europe from October 1993 until December 2002. He was also a member of Sweden's Nominating Committee from February 1992 until September 2002. Members of Parliament (Swedish: ''riksdagsledamöter'', singular: ''riksdagsledamot'') in Sweden sit in the Riksdag. Description ''Members of Parliament'' refers to the elected members of the Riksdag. In Swedish, an MP is usually referred to as a ''riksdagsledamot'' (''member of the Riksdag'') or a ''riksdagsman'' (''Gentleman of the Riksdag''). The former is in more common use today, especially in official contexts, due to its status as a unisex word, while the latter was used more often historically and literally refers to a male MP exclusively. Committee
A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. The (Parliamentary) Committee on Housing ( sv, Bostadsutskottet, BoU) was a parliamentary committee in the Swedish Riksdag up until 2006. The committee prepared, among other things, policies about housing and about land tenure, dwelling policies, water law, planning of buildings, physical planning, property development and surveying, as well as matters concerning the national administrative division and such municipal issues that do not belong to any other committee's preparation area. Stockholm County (Riksdag Constituency)
Stockholm County ( sv, Stockholms Län) is one of the 29 multi-member constituencies of the Riksdag, the national legislature of Sweden. The constituency was established in 1970 when the Riksdag changed from a bicameral legislature to a unicameral legislature. It is conterminous with the county of Stockholm but excludes Stockholm Municipality which has its own constituency. The constituency currently elects 40 of the 349 members of the Riksdag using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 general election it had 1,006,456 registered electors.
