Klostermølle
Klostermølle was originally a watermill, serving the now demolished Voer Abbey once situated nearby. The mill is located at the western end of lake Mossø. In 1872, the monks' old mill — operated as a grain mill since the time of the Protestant Reformation — was converted to a sawmill. The wood waste also served as feedstock for a cardboard factory, driven by water power. The finished cardboard was shipped by steamboat across the lake to the railway station in Alken, Denmark, Alken. Production continued until 1974, when some of the buildings were destroyed by fire; the long lumber drying shed was spared. The Danish Forest and Nature Agency has purchased the site as part of a program of nature conservation of the area surrounding Mossø and :da:Vissing Kloster, Vissing Abbey. Voer Abbey
Voer Abbey () was a Rule of St. Benedict, Benedictine abbey in Voerladegård Parish in Skanderborg Municipality, Denmark. It was situated on the Gudenå River near Klostermølle, site of the former monastery mill. History The abbey was founded before 1100 as one of the oldest Benedictine abbey, Benedictine Abbeys in Denmark. Voer Abbey was relatively wealthy and over the hundreds of years of its existence came into possession of many income-producing properties as far as Southern Jutland and as far north as Mors Island and Thisted. The abbey owned many farms and churches in the area from which it derived additional income. In 1172 the monks diverted the water of the Gudenå River into a 1300-metre canal they dug to Mossø Lake, to operate a grist mill. Mossø
Mossø is Denmark's third largest freshwater lake and Jutland's largest, as measured by surface area. The lake is located just west of the city of Skanderborg in east Jutland, but is part of both Skanderborg Municipality and Horsens Municipality. Mossø lies in the middle of the area and landscape known as Søhøjlandet (English: ''The Lake-highland''). There is a small lake named Mossø in the forest of Rold Skov in Himmerland. Nature Conservation
Nature conservation is the ethic/moral philosophy and conservation movement focused on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystem services, and protecting biological diversity. A range of values underlie conservation, which can be guided by biocentrism, anthropocentrism, ecocentrism, and sentientism, environmental ideologies that inform ecocultural practices and identities. There has recently been a movement towards evidence-based conservation which calls for greater use of scientific evidence to improve the effectiveness of conservation efforts. A nature center (or nature centre) is an organization with a visitor center or interpretive center designed to educate people about nature and the environment. Usually in a protected open space, nature centers often have trails through their property. Some are in a state or city park, and some have special gardens or an arboretum. Their properties can be characterized as nature preserves and wildlife sanctuaries. Nature centers generally display small live animals, such as reptiles, rodents, insects, or fish. Nature And Youth (Denmark)
Natur og Ungdom (NU) which translates to Nature and Youth, also known in English as Young Friends of the Earth Norway, is a Norwegian youth environmental protection organisation. It is the only environmentalist youth organisation in Norway. 7,000 members, in 80 local groups, work on environmental issues throughout the country. Officially, NU is the youth branch of the Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature. The organisation is led by Gina Gylver. The main issues the organisation works with include petroleum, public transport, energy, and nature conservation. In addition to local groups, there is a central board with 15 members that works on national issues and an administration; both are located in Oslo.
