The House of Kleist is the name of an old and distinguished Prussian noble family, originating in Pomerania, whose members obtained many important military and administrative positions within the Kingdom of Prussia and later in the German Empire. Members of the family served as officers in Prussian and German conflicts including the War of Spanish Succession, War of the Austrian Succession, Seven Years' War, Napoleonic Wars, World War I and World War II. Friedrich Graf Kleist Von Nollendorf
Friedrich Emil Ferdinand Heinrich von Kleist, granted the title Graf Kleist von Nollendorf from 1814 onwards (9 April 1762 – 17 February 1823), was a Kingdom of Prussia, Prussian Generalfeldmarschall, field marshal and a member of the old ' family von Kleist. He was a prominent figure in Prussian military during the Napoleonic Wars. Biography Kleist entered the Prussian Army in 1778 and served in the War of the Bavarian Succession and the French Revolutionary Wars. Kuupik Kleist
Jakob Edvard Kuupik Kleist (born 31 March 1958) is a Greenlandic politician who served as the fourth prime minister of Greenland between 2009 and 2013. A member of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party, he was the first prime minister not affiliated with Siumut. Since 2018, he has served as the first chairman of the Arctic Indigenous Film Fund. Henry Kleist
Henry Kleist (September 29, 1860 – November 13, 1929) was a farmer from Rantoul, Wisconsin, United States, who served one term as a state senator. He was a member of the Socialist Party. Kleist was born on a farm in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin on September 29, 1860. Six years later his parents moved to the Town of Rantoul in Calumet County. He attended public schools as a boy in the winter, working on the farm in summer, and later worked in the woods in winter. After the 1888 death of his father, he and his brother, Charles, operated the homestead farm, now known as Kleist Brothers' Grain and Dairy Farm, and continued to live with their mother. By 1918, he was president of the Calumet County branch of the American Society of Equity (at that time "the greatest farmer organization that the State had ever known") and the Farmers Advancement Association of Brillion. Ewald-Heinrich Hermann Konrad Oskar Ulrich Wolf Alfred von Kleist-Schmenzin (10 July 1922 – 8 March 2013) was a Germans, German publisher and convenor of the Munich Conference on Security Policy until 1998. A member of the von Kleist family and an officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II, his parents were active in the German resistance to Nazism, German resistance against Adolf Hitler. The 1st Panzer Army () was a German tank army that was a large armoured formation of the Wehrmacht during World War II. Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist (8 August 1881 – 13 November 1954) was a German Generalfeldmarschall (Field Marshal) of the ''Wehrmacht'' during World War II. Makka Kleist
Makka Kleist (born 1951) is a Greenlandic actress. After training to be a schoolteacher, she was inspired to become an actress and received training at the Tuukkaq Teater in western Jutland. As she was unable to find work in Denmark, she moved to Canada where she appeared in the TV series ''Daughter of the Country'' (1986). Back in Greenland, she met the theatre director Svenn Syrin who persuaded her to move to Tromsø in Norway where she appeared mainly at the youth theatre. Kleist Prize
The Kleist Prize is an annual German literature prize. The prize was first awarded in 1912, on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the death of Heinrich von Kleist. The Kleist Prize was the most important literary award of the Weimar Republic, but was discontinued in 1933. In 1985 the prize was awarded for the first time in over fifty years. Between 1994 and 2000 it was awarded biennially. A monetary sum of €20,000 accompanies the award.
